    Sorry for your loss...

But yeah don't let it loose in the wild. It'll get jacked in a quick minute. I don't know shit about rabbits but I would think the breeds you buy at pet stores have been bred for domestication for ages... they wouldn't know dick about life in the wild most likely.

A year has got to be pretty good for a rabbit I would think though, no?

Not to trivialize your loss or sound douchey or anything. Losing pets is the worst.

They should last up to 6 years or so with their natural aging. Maybe even longer. We've learned a lot like I said. This is just another learn. If we wire the bottom then it should be fully unescapable.

I'm not too sure if they'd last 6 years in the wild though. Or how long they last before being eaten by prey. They also prone to breaking their backs and having heart attack freak out moments. Though, the ones in the wild are always classified as pests.

Is your cage indoors? Doesn't it just escape into your house?

Fuck I'm out of butane... hopefully this torch lasts me through the night. None of the stores in Colorado sell butane outside of Home Depot and Lowe's type shit... it's essentially considered paraphernalia out here. So stupid. You can't even find it at gas stations. Crazy pain in the ass.

No we have a outside hutch. I made it more open. Put a pergola roof on it. Made another cage, set up a pipe for him to go through. It's pretty cool. :)

I should just get lasik. But prolly not cause for sure my vision is going to degrade more over time. I don't wanna get lasik'd twice. And who wants to pay for it twice.... that'd suck.

I hate the rabbit dug out, Irmi. :(

Do you live in an area where you could look for it? I ask that...and even in the country and with houses scattered around, I've never had any success in looking for a missing cat, which would or should be easier to find than a rabbit. I think, anyway.

Any dog we had that got away has always come back.

ALSO - there is no guarantee with lasik. It is possible to go through the procedure and it not work. :yikes:

The only way I'd ever go through lasik or ANY eye surgery would be if that would be the only way I would be able to have vision.

He never left the yard, honey. He was on the lawn. Dead. I think the dog scared him into a heart attack. He was covered in dog slobber but no physical injury. I didn't hear anything all morning. =[

I do not think I have ever heard a coyote. When I was at the zoo earlier in year we were woken up by the hyenas quote close to us and on the lions woke us up several times the first night, only twice the next night. It was something else. Some people who spend lots of dollars, got to sleep much closer to lions we were farther away but we hear them roar all night. It's not much of a roar. Like the 20th century fox intro, is not really like this at all. It sounds more like a grunt. From the lungs. This Ooowwh. Oooowh. Sound. Well, I know what I am trying to sound like. :D Y'all probably think, I'm insane or something. :D

I found out today that my dog did dig a other hole. Heh. "Dog did dig" that was difficult to type.
But it was in a slush pile of snow and mush so I can not be angry because honestly, I was poking it. With a stick. :D But that is now three days in a row he has been misbehave. And he killed our rabbit. =[ well, I do not believe that, really! :D I hoped that he had a friend for 10 minutes. I think he would have pounced around, Chase and run games, but rabbit never knew. Rabbit was silly I always asked myself, why does he try and escape with that big dog out there?

I guess the grass is always greener on the other side. And literally, a rabbit pen has no grass because they destroy it. :D our last rabbits, one we put to sleep because he broke his back. It was devastating for me. I'd never been that emotional and depressed in my life. Then the other one escaped we got them together. Then our third, he escaped never see again. And our fourth he poked his head out the pen and snapped his neck trying to pull it back in. That was 4 rabbits in less than a year. Then we get this rabbit. We keep him for more than a year! We learned! But now we learn another lesson.

They are much craftier than given credit for. Admiring in all honesty.

    :)

My rabbit is about 10 years old now. He definitely wouldn't survive in the wild though - he sleeps on his side with his eyes closed and doesn't startle unless the noise is really loud lol. He would be eaten for sure on his first night out of the house.
