    A woman decided to have a face lift for her birthday. She spent $5000 and felt really good about the results. On her way home she stopped at a dress shop to look around. As she was leaving, she said to the sales clerk, "I hope you don't mind me asking, but how old do you think I am?" "About 35,"he replied. "I'm actually 47," the woman said, feeling really happy. After that she went into McDonald's for lunch and asked the order taker the same question. He replied, "Oh, you look about 29." "I am actually 47!" she said, feeling really good. While standing at the bus stop she asked an old man the same question. He replied, "I am 85 years old and my eyesight is going. But when I was young there was a sure way of telling a woman's age. If I put my hand up your skirt I will be able to tell your exact age." There was no one around, so the woman said, "What the hell?" and let him slip his hand up her skirt. After feeling around for a while, the old man said, "OK, You are 47." Stunned, the woman said, "That was brilliant! How did you do that?" The old man replied, "I was behind you in line at McDonald's." ... And you thought it was going to be a dirty joke! ;)

    How very kind! :D

    I'm in jobhunt-mode. I check the stupid job boards every day more than once to see what's new. I have lots of applications out and I'm hopeful. I want to get an accounting job, and I'm qualified, and I have 3 years prior experience, plus the bachelor and associate degrees. Plenty of the interviews I've been to are looking right through me. I don't know what they're looking for, but they don't see it when they see me!

    Other things are good. I'm not getting married just yet, but I'm really having a heart to heart with my girlfriend about us and our romance and things are going well. Her sister is getting married, so I mentioned that it's on the table if she's interested in that; though immensely impractical right now because of her school, and her life is there. But I love her, so I talk... LOL.

    It is fantastic news! I may have neglected to mention, but I currently reside in the household of my father. Built by my grandfather in the 1950s, we moved here upon his passing - rest his soul. It's been wonderful, and everything for as long as I can remember has been taken care of. On moving out, I will have financial obligations; which is fine.

    The point: I'm welcome to stay here, however she is not. She will be coming over from Kyrgyzstan and we will need to set up camp (she'll stay for 1 year and 6 months) in town or something - I can't afford most of the places if the wage at my new job is anything like the old one... :rolleyes:

    So, with our incomes combined, I'm hoping we'll rake in a meager $3,200 or so per month - barely scraping by (southern California rent is not terribly high in this county, but not cheap like in middle-America). Rent will be the majority of that - I think probably $2,100. That leaves about $530 for utilities and expenses - groceries, god forbid we eat out..., cell phone, internet, garbage, water/sewer, blah. Whatever is left will go to her family - barely anything left though.

    Despite the financial chaos that ensues, I am very very much looking forward to a) meeting in person (we haven't met in person yet, if you can believe that), and b) the possibilities - maybe our relationship will be a hit, and in love we'll marry and ride into the sunset. LOL!

    So. It's a big revelation. She shared with me this morning this after I offered that my parents would host a 3 weeks stay. Instead, she will come after she graduates for a longer period - 1 year and 6 months. Of course, 3 weeks is still on the table, but I think she's a little shy about my parents. And she's still working on her English. And it's cute...

    Sorry, Your parents are not helping Soul. I am only guessing they are worried about you, and are trying to protect you from any heartache.
    As a parent myself, I understand that.
    However, things WILL change once they meet her. xxxx

    That would be sooo cool. & you're right - they might decide to let us move in.

    I'm thinking a two-bedroom for us. Maybe we'll share a bedroom at some point, but for now I think we should opt for separate accommodations in that way. I don't want to rush into anything, or push her into unhappiness. It's important that we go slow; at least it is to me. I'm sure she feels similarly. I can't believe she's coming! At least she says she is.

    @Candy Gal how are things?

    Well shit. There can be nothing more important to me, @Candy Gal.
    That's a meaningful sentiment, and I appreciate it.

    Your situation is in my thoughts as well. I realize the pandemic has affected us differently depending on where in the world we live... Your lockdown measures are not my lockdown measures - and we haven't had stay-at-home orders or shelter in place what have you, for many months. It's however not uncommon for the media to reflect on the situation in the UK for lockdown.

    I hope it's not uncomfortable. I've been working (essential business only), not been shopping in ages (no money...), and have taken to jogging in the park instead of the gym; I'll never go back...

    I hope they don't keep you too cooped up*
