Let's Talk Jam Bands

Maybe some people dont' have access to the stuff, or maybe they haven't yet discovered the underground scene...you can't blame them for that.

I, for a long time, didn't know about the underground scene in my area...went to a few places, met a few people...and my music interests got broader.

Instead of everyone knocking what others listen to...suggest other bands for them to check out...that's the only way they will ever know about them.

I dont have a problem with what people listen too. I just dont like seeing all the custy kids at shows...

and I do understand that Dave is what gets alot of people into the scene. But when your at Bonnaroo and are talkin about how great the Dave and Panic shows were, I mean come on. All the great music there and Dave, Panic, And Trey were some of the worse shows there...and these were the headliners...

 

Hmm, I got tapes of the mule at bonnaroo which was good stuff. Galacticccc is tonight in Norfolk... Towne point park.

"Custy" kids? What's your personal definition of this beautiful lingo?

Maybe those people really liked the Dave and Panic sets? I haven't seen posts that read "Dave and Panic ruled and all the other bands sucks!" [unless they've slipped by me].

 

If you dont know what a custy kid is, your probably one...I dont have a problem with what people what to listen to. I stateed my opion on Panic and Dave and Cheese, I also stated my opion on the type of people who listen to them. Not to say that heady people dont like em, but its not likely! When Panic and Dave were playing all the headies were out on shakedown waiting for those shows to let out so we could make money off all those custy kids.

 

I know what it is, genius. Short for "customer". I'm asking how you determine these "custy" people. Because from my point of view you're extremely judgemental and like to clump people into molds based on music preference.

If you represent the thought process of the "headies", I'm pretty damn sure I don't want to be associated with you. [you love your labels, don't you?]

 

I am judgemental because of the way we have been judged. You have all these preppy college kids with their parents money sitting in frat houses talking shit about hippies and headies and shit, but then they come to Roo and think they fit in because they listen to Dave and Panic...

I can understand that you're pissed off because of the assholes that show up, but it's stupid to isolate yourself from certain bands just because they attract "custies."

Heady people can always "spot" custies? How pleasant. I'm so glad there are people out there to say things like this. Next time I walk down the street and see a polo shirt...I think I'll yell "custy!" And the next time I see dreads, I'll yell "heady!" - because we all know physical appearance is the only way to determine these things.

I go to shows for the music...not for the labels, not to "eat shrooms all weekend" (ring a bell, there?) and the other bullshit involved.

 

Well, I dont like Panic, or Dave, or Cheese, not because of the people the attract, but because I dont care for there music, not sayin they arent not talented or anything. As for the custies, I really shouldnt say anything, cause while I was gettin ounces of shrooms for $70 I was selling em to the custies for $60 a quater, so I guess thank you custy kids for allowing me to make more money at Roo in 4 daze than I could have possibly made anywhere else! And why are you gettin so defensive?

Hmmm...but wait, here. Before you were saying a "true heady" doesn't listen to those bands, and now you're saying you just don't like them because of their music? I wasn't aware you represented every heady out there.

I just saw the mule at the norva. Was great. Warren joined YMSB for a jam.. I don't know what I'm seeing after Galactic tonight, probably the Big Summer Classic and the Allman/moe show in the same day.

 

I am gonna be at the Classic in Richmond, to make that Moe. show your gonna hafta leave early.

I don't think I know everything about the scene...far from it. I just know that your opinions are not exactly logical according to many on this thread. It doesn't take knowledge of the scene to figure out you're judgemental to everything that's not "heady".

Im go off my expeirnce, and my expeirnce tells me that most headies dont go see those bands...sorry if I offended you and your musical taste.

As far as I am concerned, the bands I listen to are the best. And whatever I dont listen to sucks...but then again isnt that how we all feel?

You would think after I keep ignoring your "points" you would get bored and move on...
