I find it highly unlikely that the folks of random thoughts are truly interested in intellectual conversation. Any time something of intellectual significance is posted it generally is highly ignored or misconstrued as troll bait.

This being the case I would venture to guess that it is safe to say this thread fits into troll bait. By suggesting a discussion of an intellectual caliber two things are certain. The first of which is somebody will want to discuss something that is not of a factual basis, but instead of a highly controversial and opinion based nature. From there we all know what follows. Heated replies and downplaying of others ideas.

If the originator of the thread had truly intended for this discussion to be of an intellectual nature he would not have left the idea open to others. Instead he would've started off properly by announcing the topic at hand, the facts behind it, and beginning a debate on said topic. Because of the fact that this was not done, I do believe he expected roughly the same type of replies that he has received so far.

If you want intellectual discussion you truly are in the wrong place. Not to say that people here are not capable, but there are two strong reasons I say this. Primarily, it's unwanted. Most people come here as an escape. To goof off, relax, and maybe even be somebody they cannot be throughout their every day life. Others cannot handle somebody not seeing things there way. Which is usually why intellectual matters often turn into heated arguments and result in name calling and putting down of others.
