Yeah, my rule is never look in the mirror. If a dog runs out and you almost hit it, never look back in the mirror. You might see someone else hit it. I can't handle seeing stuff like that.

Digging into history of my home and it's original owners... Finely got an email from the girl that grew up here. She still retains all of her parent's records and documentation. The structure was finished in 1960... It may have been designed by a locally significant architect and most of his other designs/homes are being preserved not very far away... This could be one of his earliest homes. (Name given was from memory and the first name is not identical but close... Last name is the same. It could be the same guy) If it is the same man he may also still be alive. It would be a interesting thing to have him visit and hear about ideas first hand.

i ran over a dog once

you could hear the thump thump thump as he rolled under it from front to rear...by the time i stopped and got out he had run into the bush

the owner started following tracks and i left

found out later the guy spent hours and hours tracking his dog and when he gave up and went home the dog was sitting on steps uninjured like nothing ever happened

The dog we had when I was a kid got hit right out in front of our house one evening. I saw it happen... He survived, but he never was quite the same. Neither was I, you never forget seeing something like that.

Long ago a friends beautiful Irish Setter pup (about 7 months old) got out at night and we couldn't find him.
The next morning he was sitting at their front door, bleeding from both ends, hips horribly crushed. We could only assume he got hit by a car. The odd thing is he climbed two flights of stairs to get to the door.
Sadly there was nothing that could be done, his hip was pulverized and the internal injuries were to substantial, so they put him to sleep.
Damn dog stayed chipper even though obviously in horrible pain.
that was a tough one to contend with.

Yes I was. A very many casualties were arriving on said hospital ship. Someone looked me over and I was placed on a stainless steel table with a drain in the ship`s morgue. When I first arrived I was told " we will get to you when we can ". But that was hours later. I was very badly injured: gunshot wound to abdomen through and through with explosive impact. Right kidney destroyed along with most of liver and damage to colon. But they refrigerated me in said morgue. I recall getting colder and colder and waiting to die. Eventually someone showed up and asked: Is he still alive ? Someone said: yes he is and someone else said: well, wheel him in. [ to the surgery I guess ]. A very painful and strange experience all in all. I think being refrigerated saved my life. Anyone interested in REFRIGERATION THERAPY prior to surgery ? ...Oscar

Oh, I made a good recovery. So good that I was returned to full duty as a rifleman and sent back to Vietnam in time for the next tet offensive. Early Jan. 1969. By that time I was fully engaged as a butt kicking US Marine. What fun I had as a young man. And I mean that sincerely. Nice stop off in Okinowa for plenty of screwing and such. Beautiful young ladies there and then who adored me and what money I had. Those Nipponese young women were fascinated by large scars and such.

You had to have been there to appreciate all this. We were flown in to Da Nang airport on a commercial airliner back when you could smoke and drink and the Stews were ALL beautiful women wearing miniskirts. I am not making this up. Then you step off the plane and " Welcome to Vietnam ". This was my second trip and they did this farce of driving by with a bunch of dead guys on some sort of cart. A lot of us were 2nd tour guys and had already seen this act before. Is that weird or what ?

I really hate living near an Air Base.
Damn jets fly right over our house as they approach for a landing, or sometimes it's a group of Blackhawks, or the humungous transport planes or all of them!
Either way those suckers are LOUD and rattle the windows and dishes.

I guess I should be thankful they aren't going overhead at Mach 2 or some shit!
