born and raised forest country Mississippi - home of the rednecks you say? lmfao have you ever passed a house with a doll with an afro hanging by a noose on the porch or a restaurant sign refusing service to people of color? i doubt anyone expect to be treated like a white man, but is it out of line to expect to be treated like a human being?
Taking responsobility for another persons' actions is not knowledge. Maybe YOU should read a fucking book.
I just said it isn't about taking responsibility it is being AWARE of your history, because it is bound to repeat itself lest we proactively seek to stop it. don't go down the whole argumentative road again, my friend
Personally, I don't give a shit if it happens again now that I think about it. I mean hell, I'm not black? I wont be the slave! Ha.
The sort of ignorance and insensitive behavior that will doom us all. God bless America, right? I'm applying for Canadian citizenship in roughly 2 months...
Go look at Canada's economy... Go look at Canada's health system Go look at Canada's global presence...any terrorist attacks on them? I can go on if you like? Sure, Canada is basically a bitch of a country, but at least I don't run the risk of getting nuked. I'm not sure if you knew this but Korea is testing ICBM missiles yay!!!
lol, we don't even know how many bums we have. And with unemployment rising to something like 8.1% in February, the only thing we know for certain is that there will be more of em. Back to the topic on hand...You're a self proclaimed Nazi, you really don't have anything else to add to this discussion. You're 17 and thinking you may get thrown in jail. Let me tell you right now that your life is not going to pan out very nicely if you continue in this direction
Not if you are smart about the way you carry yourself, this just further reinforces the notion I had that you are lacking a bit upstairs.
As a history major, I think it is one of the most facinating subjects out there. Black history month is fine with me, Hespanic, Korean, wtf ever, I want it all. But in high school I didn't give a crap about Black History Month. I lived in Arizona and grew up pretty protected from the ugly side of humanity. I didn't see racism anywhere (I'm sure it was there, I just was unaware of it). I didn't see the point in it. I just figure, incorporate it in with the rest of history. But then I moved to the south. My cousin just had a mixed race baby, half the family will not admit that they are family in any way. My aunt thinks that it would be better if all non - white/hetero/christian/concervative people had been killed off long ago (actually said it with no shame). In this town if a white girl dates a black guy, she is a slut. She doesn't even have to date him. Just talking to a black guy will get you a bad reputation. Racism is still around. African Americans still should have a month that celebrates them, and teaches everyone the rich history that we as a human race share. In the future, I hope it will just be human history. But white history is still not giving fair exposure to all races and until it does we need some way to learn. If we get rid of black history month, I can easily see black history being forgotten completely.
white history month! lol! hell yeah! side note: i was kinda happy about that new show on comedy central due to the white guy being on it. shows are always given to black dudes anymore. i'm not racist or anything. hell, even my sociology teacher said something about how people naturally favor people that are like them.
Nah, not even close. Try again. Do you know what word is in the word "racist"??? I'll give you a hint- it's "race". So, what is "race" you say?Race is, and i use this term loosely, pretty much the color of one's skin. So, hating someone because of their beliefs technically wouldn't be considered "racist". Because it's not like you know their beliefs right when you first see them unless you talk to them and they sit down and tell you their beliefs. Now, lets say you're "racist" against jews, technically, you can't really be a "racist" against jews, u can be labeled an anti-semitic prick, but racist? No, not today sir.
yeah, it's you "as a race" we need to learn something. that's where you and i are never ever gonna see eye to eye. as human being we need to learn about how awful ALL HUMAN BEINGS are to anyone who gets in their way. what? i can't be proud of MLK and Malcolm X because they weren't my race? they were american. they were human, they were awesome. personally, i'm gonna go ahead and be happy we, as a human race, had them around. and maybe, just maybe, in the misty history of other people's slave usage and more idealised, distantly written histories, some slaveholders were kind to their slaves. but by the same token, you gotten remember that even their institutionalized slavery still put power of one person over another, and written rights rarely mean jack shit when it's a slaves word against his master. the ugliest thing about european history is that it's more recent that anyone else's.
Why would a white person be proud of Malcolm X, who was basically a black supremacist? And really, there's no point in feeling guilty about the white man's 'rape of the world' or whatever. To tell the truth, some black people who came over as slaves nowadays have it infinitely better than their counterparts in Africa. The life expectancy of your average American is waayyyy above that of your average African... sure it's far from perfect and I'm sure that the deep south is a nightmare, but Africa isn't exactly the best place to live either. In African countries, tribes still fight and kill each other on the streets. People can pay the cops to throw their enemies in jail. There are just as many shitty people there as there are here. That's life. If that wasn't enough, America also gave the freed slaves their own country in Africa and kept a close relationship to make sure the country got a good start... and Liberia was doing well, even if it has got problems now. Sometimes, when the stronger nation colonizes/annexes the weaker nation, they end up improving the quality of life for a lot of the citizens. Oftentimes they bring in infrastructure, industry, health care, and knowledge. I'm not saying this is always the case or that the conquerors didn't have their own interests in mind, just that the British/Americans weren't necessarily the war-hungry barbarian invaders that the movies suggest they were. In some cases, they were a definite improvement over the former leaders/kings/tyrants/etc. Throughout history, people have been fighting over land and resources. If it's time to put that behind us, then we need to put that behind us... not keep bringing it up.
