we have nothing to feel guilty about. we're people, not a race. and all those people who say we fucked up have a pretty myopic, ethnocentric view of their own history. how 'bout we make all the histories about all the other races not just about the shiny pretty accomplishments and make it about the vicious cruelty, murder, rape, pillaging and land stealing that went on. my people got shuffled along a trail of tears, shot at by buffalo soldiers, lived in poverty, some lived in palaces, some were seafarers of questionable character, some were bombed by some of the others, and stereotypical alcoholic indians. one thing i know is that i sure as hell don't hold a grudge about history. people do what people do, just because some of it is more recent and well taught than other less pretty bits of history doesn't make us any different whatsoever.

Well, as is the saying and the exact rule of thumb - "History repeats itself"

And unless you want to see those same things happening to your people, or any other group of people, we need to learn from our mistakes, the first step to learning from mistakes is identify them. And the people, in most part, to blame are white, puritan, males, and there really is now pussyfooting around that.

We can go further and I can show you how patriarchy has set all of that stuff up and go even further to find the root of pretty much all of the world's problems. Doing so is just interesting, as we are at a point where it is impossible to turn it that far back, but racism is relatively new issue to the world.

 

learning history is TOTALLY different than feeling guilty about what a buncha people with a certain set of physcial characteristics similar to your own did to someone else. that's exactly like saying that those people over there that don't look like you are totally different and don't deserve respect . they're not totally different . that's nonsense.

and since those WASPS developed much more slowly into a powerful, their terrible deeds may be more recent, but they are certainly not more pervasive or more evil than anyone else's. quit being a bigot and get on with your life.

The fact that these are more recent has a lot to do with today, as well. Especially being there is a lot of ignorance on the subject because, yes, people like you choose to "get on with their lives" rather than solving issues, then they get out of hand.


I don't understand how people can be so confrontational on these things whenever they display ideas or attitudes that go right along with what I've been saying.

It's like there is a certain point of agreement and then a swerve, crash and burn.

As far as me saying how great other's slavery is? Not once. I don't think slavery is remotely good in any situation, just that your point that "slavery is slavery is slavery" is not correct.

The relationship between whites and the rest of the world has been a dominating one, mostly thanks to Christianity, Judaism, and Islam (and all other monotheistic related religions).

Because of this, the slavery that was seen between whites and others was especially...oppressive? It packed extra punch because for the most part slavery was held within the surrounding peoples, almost never, except for in Asia, were there slaves from other continents/races.

I'm just saying that Whites have a lot of bad things to account for, AS A RACE. And acting like we are all tough shit still and "we should have a white history month" is the ignorance I'm talking about. NO EXCUSE, GO LEARN SOMETHING. We should all be humble in our own...

There are still things happening right now as we speak in Congress that can be argued is based on institutionalized racism.

A lot of people take the whole "forget about" stand on racism, but it is natural to be biased towards someone that is more LIKE you - this is a FACT, there is evidence that proves this if you so wish to look it up...unfortunately i forgot the term that is used to describe this.

So to be aware of this bias can help make things better, until at least we grow into a culture/world that DOESN'T see race as differentiating people.

Everything is pretty much based on being AWARE.
Be AWARE of history
Be AWARE of natural tendencies
Be AWARE of racism
Be AWARE of what happens in our government
Most importantly be AWARE of yourself, when you can communicate with yourself to find your true intentions and beliefs, I think everyone would find that any issue like racism can be defeated

 

I refuse to look into someone elses mistakes, no it will not make me a better person. Saying "I realize as a race, we did something wrong" would just be retarded of me, as a RACE I didn't do shit, nor did anyone I know.
