Not in Europe. Woman there quite often walk around with body hair. There's not really any pressure going on there. Yet, many do shave.

I bet there is ground we can agree on: stubble sucks.
Ok, so that wasn't exactly eloquent...
I am of the why shave camp. I stopped in 95 and let me tell ya, sistas, it's a new level of liberation.
I did have a hard time finding a new home for my moderately-priced refillable razor, wasn't willing to toss it in the trash, but I have not looked back.
It is feminine, it is natural, it is sexy to the guy I want to attract, it is fine in an office. I don't show my pits (males don't in an office, either) and I wear long skirts and the attitude is more important than the looks in an office.

Laurie, I am right behind you. I love hair on a woman, down below and armpits. I think its so sexy and so natural. I prefer smelling a natural woman than one with all these chemicals sprayed on her. :)

Males should shave the arm pits too. It's cleaner.

I recently stopped shaving, as I want to be as natural as possible. I have felt a little uncomfortable about it at times, but I would be lying if I didn't tell you that it has made me feel slightly liberated. I think hair is beautiful. Hair, Hair, Everywhere, Everyone Embrace Your Hair!!

It just turns me off badly to feel or see hairy legs, or armpits.
I mean, hell, like touching a man's legs!!

Fair enough if you don't like women with hairy legs/pits; everyone has different sexual preferences + many would concur with your preference. However to say it is like touching a man's leg is banal nonsense. From your message I doubt you've ever touched a woman's leg hair. I've had several unshaved female lovers over the years + I've really relished the look + feel of those hairy legs. Not once did I equate them with masculinity; in fact a couple were far hairier than mine + I did not feel my masculinity was threatened or that the women were in anyway unfeminine. It's a basic biological fact that women as well as men have hairy legs/pits, if on average less prolific growth than guys. It's just unfortunate (for those like myself who adore natural hairy women) that our culture pretends that women are hairless, so many women waste vast amounts of time + money trying to attain this unnatural hairless state. While I'm sure there are women who do enjoy the shaving/depilating ritual, there are many others who wouldn't bother, but for social pressures.

You doubt right, I've never touched a hairy female leg. It threatens my masculinity.

I absolutely DO NOT SHAVE..any part of my body

    I have many reasons

    I think it beautiful
who decided women should shave anyway (probably a man)
i like the way it feels .. it's very soft
i like my bodies natural scent ( and so do the type of men i want to attract..) YAY FOR FEROMONES
    i am all natural
I do not conform to the norm
It was put on ur body for a reason.

I am in no way embarrased to go out in public wearing shorts and a tank..infact..i luv to show it off..and i am not the type to worry about what people r thinking..how could i be so vain to think that people actually are worring about what i'm doing..lol that's silly..i think most of the time..people r thinking about themselves..not about u...But really.why is it so socially unexceptable for a women to be hairy ??? people just think it's what ur supposed to do because that is what society teaches them right? i really just don't understand..

btw all of my friends and family think it's disgusting...but..fuck em' :) I do what i want...and they luv me anyways.. :)

    Trash your razors?
    Welcome!

I am not out to convince a woman who likes silky-smooth armpits to stop shaving, but rather to support my Sisters in Fuzz.
I know many people think fuzzy pits are gross and that is their right. It is also my right to grow my hair. All of it. Shall we agree to disagree?

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appearence is very culturally loaded. In the United States, we tend to have a value placed upon the way a person looks, rather than how a person behaves. My theory is that snap judgements are time-savers and useful in mate selection.
Which leads us to body hair.
Mate selection in primates uses olfactory input. The nose knows, so to speak.
The chemistry of romantic (passionate) attraction is based in the scent a primate emits. When left to natural devices, primates, including humans, pick the "right" mate for them.
When the scents are covered up or nullified, the chemical messages may get misinterpreted. The effects of mis-read chemical messages on divorce rates is a worthy field for research.
In modern-day erotica, there is a niche market for men who like armpit hair. (The same pieces also stress shaving EVERYthing else, so who's to say?)
Many of the messages on pro-armpit hair discussion boards focus on the sexual attraction men have for fuzzy women, so the discussion has remained on a fetishist level.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some women grow their fuzz to flaunt convention, it becomes a feminist issue for them. Personally, I grew weary of a rash in my armpit. However, I received so many nasty comments that the tufts became a politicized statement about image and how easily women, and men, are sold on a cultural ideal.
All in all, the decision to grow or shave rests with the woman. There should be no more comment on a woman's fuzz than a man's facial hair.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Some humor helps.

To Fuzz or not to Fuzz
For many women, the question of removing body hair will be answered by their community.
For women who wish to consciously reject their community, the response can be daunting.
In the United States, not shaving is met with revulsion by the majority of the populace.
Here is my view of the question to shave or not to shave.
Remember, this is humor. Like all humor, there is a grain of truth within the layers.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Reasons for smooth pits
    1. It fits your personal style
    2. Your sig O has a definite view of smooth
    3. You work in an office and you wear sleeveless shirts
    4. You are a model
    5. You are a swimmer
    6. You are a drag queen
    7. You have had chemo
    8. You have not hit puberty

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Reasons for fuzzy pits
    1. It fits your personal style
    2. Your sig O has a definite view of fuzz
    3. You wear sleeves/ your boss doesn't care (you lucky dog)
    4. You are harbouring stowaway hamsters under your arms
    5. You have hit puberty
    6. You think fuzz is better than shaving rash (ouch!)
    7. You want the creepy yuppie guy at the show to leave you ALONE (it works, but you have to raise those arms, Sista)
    8. Hair holds patchouli scent better than skin

I think you should be however makes you happy. I hate hair on myself and it sucks because since I have sesitive skin i can't shave often so I get waxed and than you have to let it grow for a month untill they can wax it again. If it wasn't so painfull I would get it all waxed off every month but I can't stand the pain.
