I started to like them two years ago or something. Then half a year ago I realised they were actually rather annoying, and now I'm pretty much Zeppelin-free. :)

Yeah they truly are an inspirational band. Lets face it no band will ever live up to be as great as they were, simply because they changed music.

It takes some extremely talented people to create something so different and unheard of and thats just what they did.

I mean despite the fact that their not my "favourite" band these days i still have great respect for them.

They have been a huge influence on the music im into and everyone that likes them i will instantly take a liking too..So in conclusion i respect you all :).

I love Led Zeppelin. The first song I ever heard was "Black Dog". I was nine years old and it was too heavy metal for me to listen to. Then when I grew up out of the pop stage, I was 14 and I rediscovered Led Zeppelin all in a good time. My favourite songs to getting the Led out are: "When the Levee Breaks", "Kashmir", "Ten Years Gone", "D'yer M'aker", and "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp".

Decent band, way over-rated, but as is the way with most popular rock bands.

How are they over-rated? All four of the members are probably the greatest at what they each do, and they have some of the greatest albums of all time. But, music is all about opinion, so I can't say I even disagree with your statement...There's a lot of bands I consider over-rated, and some of those artists are considered as some of the greatest ever..so you can't really say.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA

They have been called "gods" by countless sheep, they are certainly not. There are many people who can out play them, many bands that did not achieve their sucess that have many better songs.

Not one of those men could write something to compete with Paganini, Bach or Vivaldi, so to say that they're "greatest" anything is picking from a very limited pool.

Each were decent musicians, but there are many others who are on the level - far from greatest.

So you don't think Bonham was the greatest drummer of all time, then?

Definitely not. Have you ever heard Jan Axel Blomberg? (Mayhem) How about Tim Alexander (Primus), Richard Christie (Death) or even Jon Allen (Sadus)?

Of course, it would be absolutely foolish to forget BILL WARD.

I've never heard of any of those drummers, except for Bill Ward, of course...but I know that most of them are Metal drummers, which is great, but Metal and Zeppelin's music is completely different, so comparing these cats to Bonham is stupid. Just like when you said that the guys in Zeppelin couldn't write music like the likes of Vivaldi or Bach, well, no, because they aren't classical artists...If you were to give Bach a bass guitar and tell him to play Achilles' Last Stand, he wouldn't know what the hell to do.

So you should say "greatest rock musician", and even then it's up for quite a debate.

It's funny that people will say someone is the "greatest" whatever, and then when more technically capable people are listed they start setting limits and criterias. Oh well.

Give Jimmy a guitar and tell him to play Certain Death and he won't know what the hell to do.

No, you're right, Page probably wouldn't know what to do, but once again, it's two different music genres. Any of those death metal or thrash metal bands who are considered the greatest at what they do, but any other genre, chances are they nothing of it, and maybe they do, I'm not saying they don't..like Randy Roads or Eddie Van Halen, they had a classical background as well as a rock background, but all of these other metal guitarists might not, so while they may be the best at metal guitar, that's it..just like Page, you're right, he would get torn alive in the metal world, but so would metal guitarists in Zeppelin's area of music.

I just find it annoying when people try to make claims of artists being the "greatest".

How can there be a greatest?

which is why intelligent people dont say that they are the best band of all time, because some people get offended as you did so yourself..........

Annoyed and offended aren't really the same thing, by the way.

I wouldn't say that I'm offended by other's idiotic claims.

    Greatness spawns hate.

    Hate spawns lies.

Surely you all must know this.
