No. He was definately intense to watch play, though.

One-hour drum solo? You can't handle that shit on strong acid, man.

Zepplin must be in the top 3 for their era. For an example just listen to 1 & 2. After doing that listen to hang and hear Page just kick hell out of that electric bango.

They must have their place in R&R history!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svEwuuUCDbI It's taken from Grand Funk Railroad "Behind The Music" so fast foward to 2:20 thats when they start talking about it.

I love Zeppelin & and Grand Funk, but man that was a pussy thing to do by Zeppelin.

Their early stuff is really good! When they had that raw garage band sound...Songs like Into the Sun,Time Machine,Paranoid,In Need,Inside Looking Out,Closer To Home.

Their Live Album is fucking great, thats when their at their best.

I like GFR, but 'America's greatest band'?
    Hardly.
Zeppelin also didn't do that, Peter Grant did.
The band did as the giant manager told them.

They all knew they couldn't follow Grand Funk, especially the band members.I don't think any band could follow Grand Funk at that time.

The Grand Funk Railroad lineup was highly popular during the 70's having sold over 25 million records and selling out arenas worldwide and having been awarded four RIAA gold albums in 1970, the most for any American Group that year. They were often cited as "the loudest rock and roll band in the world."

They broke the attendance record set by The Beatles at Shea Stadium selling out in just 72 hours (a record that still stands today)

They were probably the biggest band in the 70's that alot fo people have forgot about.Zeppelin,Sabbath,Deep Purple etc..Get all kinds of media hype and airplay on classic rock stations.Grand Funk hardly ever gets played, and when they do it's just two songs, Closer To Home & Some Kind Of Wonderful.
They did sell out by the mid 70's doing alot of pop stuff, but theres no denying that their first few albums are up there with Deep Purples Machine Head,Zeppelin 1& 2,Sabbath's Paranoid etc as being some of the best albums of the era.

I've been on Robert Plant's concert yesterday. What an awesome show it was. Guy still has his old charisma and his voice is still great! He played zepp's songs of course and 3 or 4 of his own. The arena was filled. :D

    Plant rocks! Zepp rock!

oh damn, Istanbul concert was awesome too, at 4th of July...first they played Tin Pan Valley, after that; 7+7 and.......when they started to play Black Dog people really boiled. They played Freedom Fries,Takamba and The Enchanter(they played this at bis) from Mighty Rearranger album. Slow Dancers was an amazing performance, it was, a kind of magical thing, it's so hard for me to explain that to you, with my terrible English :) And let me tell you about Led Zeppelin songs, Gallows Pole, Going to California, Four Sticks, Friends...And then i heard intro of Baby I'm Gonna Leave You, damn that was like a dream, Plant made me cry with that song...While i was going to the concert, i never thought that they would play that song, what a big shock to me!

At the bis, he first sang The Enchanter and after that, an incredible Whole Lotta Love performance. Everybody was afoot, from teenagers to 60 year old people, everybody was singing with Robert Plant, until they hoarse their voices...

I'm still under the influence of that night :)

I knew Plant would include some Zeppelin, but yeah, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You is a bit of a surprise to me. That would be so awesome to see, it's one of my favorites.
