well shit i was gonna say don't bring your keyboard
but maybe you should, but keep it stored when you're not playing, and try not to piss your roomate off with it
it's better if you are your roomate are friends

 

i got headphones today that plug into my keyboard. also i found out the beds can be raised like 4 feet so i'm going to raise it as high as i can without causing difficulty getting into bed and then just stash my keyboard underneath. i think i have all my shit together now... i still have a TON of laundry that needs to be hung up cause its still wet and cant go in the dryer but i'm gonna make my sister bring me that on friday since it wont dry by tomorrow. and i still need to buy stuff but my sister is getting it tomorrow and bringing it friday (shes going to temple as well, shes my twin, but shes moving in friday... today i realized how incredibly convenient that is)

well, i was briefly in a "dorm"-like barracks. so heres my 2 cents.
1. bring your keyboard
2. make storage a priority (shelves, milk crates, whatever) but try to make it adaptable. i like stackable cubes and crates because if you have to get out of dodge, you just turn them on their side and run with them.
3. anything that is electronic, or worth any money at all, DOCUMENT serial numbers, appearances, jewelery (take pictures too) and where you usually keep said items. when people take your stuff, they never take that crap you're saving, they always take the good stuff first.
4. you don't need as much clothing as you are taking. keep track of what you actually wear while you are there, what you know you'll need (a couple of emergency special occasion outfits or whatever) and what you just have to have with you. once you know what those items are, send the rest home in a box.
5. FLYlady.net (its about keeping clean and organized, but its good stuff.)


and while trunks are good for many things, they take up alot of space on their own. when full of books they are fucking monstrously heavy, even full of clothes they are uncomfortable to carry. plus side, they can be locked. so its kind of a toss up.

 

well i'm all moved in now... i actually left a bunch of shit at home and my sister is bringing it for me tomorrow. didnt bring my keyboard... cant really figure out how it'll fit but i'll see if i can make it work somehow. theres a decent amount of room here though, and its such a relief to have everything set up and to just be here, and out of the house. its so nice living like 20 minutes away cause i can just go home and grab stuff if i need it. i didnt get a trunk, but i have a ton of clothes coming. i have lots of space under my bed though so i think i'm going to get drawers or something.

 

look into the closits sets or damn, theres another company that does them too. they are the cubicle storage things that stack and can be changed and separated and things, they make a long double drawer unit that might fit the bill. plus you can always use it for something else later. and using those things is like playing with legos XD

i think walmart and target sell them or similar units.

i dont fuck with mosters...thats why i dont have a bed frame. my box spring is just right on the floor with my bed on top

well i have a spot for it but theres no outlet, so i need to get an extension cord. but it would also require me to use some of my roommate's side of the room and i dont know if she'll like that. i think i'm going to hold off for a bit until i get to know her a little better before i ask if she minds. im using the space under my bed for my clothes, haha
