What does entropy have to do with anything? It can only increase, is the one thing most people know about it, but that comes from thermodynamics nothing cosmology does will change that.

LOL, your up early [or late]
hang on england 10 hours. im just a poor colonial
you are at 5pm or close.
We criminals are more determined than the mother country..;)You.
More interested in soccer and beer and what the fkin yanks
are doing. We aussies laugh at you and your pakistani cab drivers.
    lol

    The entropy trap.
Well the observable universe will 'run down' no?
Cosmology IS our entropy trap. We are part of the cosmos
Will there be nothing but holes left in the end?
    say 50 to 100 billionyears

I presume you mean 'heat death' whereby the universe ends up as a uniform field of radiation. But the situation is not that simple. Part of Hawking work on black holes was showing that they have the largest entropy possible per unit size (or something along those lines). Also there are a number of issues such as the effect of vacuum energy that complicate the issue. Anyway the 'heat death' is far from certain. Even if it is, im not totally sure what this has to do with WIMPS. The universe is expanding, or at least it seems to be, that needs to be explained regardless of where it ends up. Im not a huge fan of dark matter, though there was some recent results that looked quite good, not sure where they came from though.

    WOW.. I aplaud you.

The abillity to be unsure of ones understanding is the 1st step to
    understanding.

Hawking was a great man, but he did not know everything.
He knew something of a small field of knowing.
    As did Einstein.

Is our observable universe headed for a 'heat death'?
This could be answered if we knew that the delta V of galaxies was reducing.

If it was, maybe the WIMP's would strut more surely
Its all politics within the science community
what a waste of time and effort.

^^ Well, thats the first time that I've heard someone describe the heat death of the universe as a solvable problem.

Aren't there different levels of physical laws.

    Invariance under translation.
    Conservation of momentum.
    Newton's gravitation.

Each seem to me to be at different levels.

I'm not saying Dark Matter doesn't exist, it would make life happier for cosmologists if it did. I'm not convinced, i'm more into particle physics than cosmology. I am struggling to see how the WIMPS would fit into the symmetry of the standard model. Its not a quantitative argument so i'm not making it strongly and I have no better suggestions to make myself and as a rule if you don't have anything better its best not to rubbish what there is too strongly. Of course if they do exist it would be a boost for both subjects it would help bring bring cosmology forward and kick particle physics out of the standard model rut. So in short it would be nice but im not hopeful.

Mike, Invariance under translation and conservation of momentum are the same thing, I apologise if you know this. In field theory the constraints set by invariances lead to physical conservations laws (wiki Noether's theorem, tho its quite mathsy). I like this area because it stops links Physics to a mathematical principle not a deeper physics one that then has to be explained, ad infinitum.

Occam does not 'care' if wimps exst or not.
His method to understanding allows NO emotion.
    But it seems many do.
    Their 'reputations' depend on it.

    That is not science.

    Same with gravitons.

Humans will go to extraordinary lengths to be 'right'
    They will abandon reason itself.
    Just look as religion.

soz mate. Not emotional at all.

Have you considered that the structure of space itself has mass?
That space takes on inverse [squared?] mass effects when isolated from proper mass? [by inverse X]
    Dark matter problem solved.
Why look for invisible matter when invisible SPACE exists.

This may also go some way towards resolving time dilation.
    And zero point theory.

    Occam

Yes.. occam is mathematical illiterate..have a laugh. but math needs
concept to mean anything at all.
The first concept being. Human understanding
Without humans, there is no human mathematics
    Without philosophy.
    Mathematics would not exist.
