If you started a pure sativa indoors during the winter monthes and vegged it for quite a while before putting it outside then a 30 ft plants would be completely possible. You'd need a huge rootmass too, but it's can be done in tropical places.

I've seen pics in grow journals and such that had pretty damn massive plants......if i had to guess (guessing from a picture) id say they were anywhere from 12-15ft tall. The tallest one i've seen in person was just shy of 7 1/2 ft.

i found this in a fairly in depth study.the whole article is actually a interesting read..
    http://www.drugpolicy.org/marijuana/medical/challenges/litigators/legal/plantyeilds/deaplantyields.cfm
that being used as a guide, i highly doubt a plant anywhere on earth would reach 30 feet.. i would say that closing in on 20 would be possible,i just dont see 30 being possible..

now as far as industrial hemp,, i found this..

    http://mojo.calyx.net/~olsen/HEMP/IHA/iha01114.html

so i could see "industrial hemp" in todays time possibly growing to close to 30 feet. although im sure it would have been genetically altered. that being said,i doubt anything in the wild grows over 20...

How can it not be possible? Veg a plant indoor for an extended period of time, place it outside in spring. If it managed to reach maybe 8-10 feet before flowering begins, with a stretch of about 3x (not too big of a stretch for a pure sativa) in the first phases of flowering, 30 feet is possible. (Like I said before, you'd also need a HUGE rootmass) This is unless there's some genetic barrier that prevents plants from growing that tall, but I don't see why that's the case

I'm not claiming that there are tons of plants out there like this, or that cannabis could grow like that in it's natural state, but I don't understand why it wouldn't be possible.

well i did say in the wild, not one that was started indoors then took outdoors after a growing cycle..

also almost all plants have limitations of how tall they will grow, that is a given. therefore i would say that it would be safe to assume with the available data that under normal growing conditions a marijuana plant wouldnt reach anywhere close to 30 feet, although there could be a strain of industrialized hemp that may.. however i highly doubt it...

ive seen one that had to be at least 12-15ft tall in a high times magazine. the guy standing in front of it was holding a chain saw with a huge grin on his face. it looked like a huge ass marijuana christmas tree lol!!! i think that on average plants grow to like around 5-6 feet tall because thats about as big as you would want them to be able to work with them. its really pointless IMO to let it grow any bigger then that.
