I like how I look with moderate/conservative makeup... but I have a bad habit of touching my face often - I fidget, I guess. I don't wear mascara because it always runs and ends up under my eyes, looking awful. I don't wear lipstick because it only comes right off... So.... I kinda cheated. I went and got eyeliner and lip-liner tattooed on -- you know, "permanent makeup". Pricey but well worth it. The important thing (to me) is that I had it done lightly -- and in colors as natural as possible (no "stylish" colors)... I asked the artist to color-match a freckle on my face and use that color as lip liner - and to go easy on the ink. It came out well. You really can't tell I had it done, it doesn't look like "makeup". It just adds subtle definition. I NEVER put makeup on now, unless I'm going to have a photo taken, like for a name-badge or driver's license. Other rare occasions might call for it -- if I'm in a play under stage lights, then stage makeup is called for, but I consider that an exception. Cosmetic tattooing FTW!
i go natural some days and paint my face some days. i enjoy decorating myself and... you only live once, i don't think i'm really damaging myself by putting a bit of makeup on, even if there is a minuscule amount of mercury...
Okay, details please... How long did it take to do this? Was it painful? Expensive? Can we see a picture??
Well, I don't have a really good picture, it doesn't look like "makeup" on me at all. I had one application, a healing phase, then a second application about three weeks later (standard practice). Healing took about two weeks each time. It is sort of pricey. In the long run, it is worth it - think long term. Eight years ago, I paid a total of $700 (usd): Lipliner $300, Upper eyelids $200, Lower eyelids $200 ...every artist has their prices. A lot of times you DO get what you pay for. Get references. They use a topical anesthetic (like Lidocaine gel). The eyelids didn't hurt for me, they kind of "itched" ... the lips were a different story. First pass with the needle/pen stung, but after that first pass, the medication was able to penetrate the skin and the pain went away (just have to get past the first pass). Healing was a little uncomfortable - my eyes itched and my lips felt like I had kissed a hot toaster. I've never been sorry, though. ...Do a search for "Cosmetic tattoo" or "Permanent makeup" you'll find photos in artist's portfolios, before-and-after pictures. It's neat.
...Here is one photo of me from a couple years ago that might (kind of) give you an idea of what I have. The photo is grainy, but I don't think higher resolution would reveal more... like I said, I asked for subtle ink, and that is what I got. I am happy with it.
i stopped wearing makeup about a year ago. i realized i didn't look so strange without it. all i wear is lip balm if that counts. pretty happy with my unmasked face though face paint is fun sometimes!
That looks great. I don't think I could have a needle by my eyes... I can't even go to the eye doctor.
personally I only wear make up for shoots...in my everday life no..i firmly believe in natural beauty..and i use organics for my shoots...
Aww thanks eponabri thats very sweet of you to say I used to wear absoltuley too much makeup lol then i decided on none at all and now i have finally struck a balance -tyical Libran have to go to extremes first. Here's me at 20ish in my warpaint phase lol. Oh and i would never have that tattoo make up done. My mothers friend has it and it looks awful! She has this brownish lip line around her mouth ugh.
I do. I mostly wear just some mascara and lip balsam, but if I think it might be good I wear some make-up as such and powder too. Oh yes and I shave. Shame on me ))
I shave when I need to. As for makeup - No, generally not. The most I ever use is a little bit of lipstick or lipgloss, and that's extremely rare. ~ Emilie
Sometimes i do, sometimes i dont. I got periods of time when i feel i look like a prick even if a put the most luxurious make-up on me, and i got periods when i feel pretty without any make up at all.
i wear concealer and a little mascara. dont need blush cuz my cheeks are naturally pinkish...eyeliner smears and i only wear eye shadow for special occasions or when im in the mood.
No, I never did like make-up, the only time I can remember wearing it is when I cut my hair short on a crazy whim.
