That would open an entire different can of worms though. No elected official would be safe from efforts to fire them as soon as someone felt like the official wasn't doing his/her job in the way that particular person or group of people expected.

True. However if the determination were objective, rather than subjective, it shouldn't be a problem. It's a fact that she is not fulfilling her duty. It's not a matter of how well she is fulfilling it, it's a matter of her not acting in accordance with the law.

I originally thought of a recall, but that would do no good in that area in regards to the issue at hand.

Too bad it can't be done, without a lot of hassle and money.

I have found myself thinking the exact thing Expanse posted. What the hell is so difficult about comprehending and accepting that one has to do the duties of their job or they would have to leave that job. Elected or not...that should have already been written in state or federal laws. As long as a person isn't being subjected to physical abuse, or that be a job requirement - then an elected official should have to whatever they have been elected to do. simple.

    ____________________________________________________

That being said, I know what you speak of here, Wiz...but that would put it back to us, the voters...to DO something about this, or rather this kind of thing.

Ms. Davis and her followers wouldn't have this soapbox if people/the media weren't following her around, and I'm certainly not saying she should be allowed to decide if her "moral" [IMG] would allow her to perform this simple duty.

No...the moment she refused to do this, a part of her dutiies as an elected official, she should be gone.

    buh bye [IMG]

No. It means alot to people that they are finally free to marry where they live. That goes for getting a marriage license too.

She is trying to use religious law to override secular law.

We are a nation of secular laws and many of those laws are designed to protect unpopular groups and individuals, even religious ones, from other groups or individuals.

There are nations on this Earth based on religious laws. Those laws are designed to protect and promote that specific religion.

She has no understanding of the principles this nation was founded on and operates under, none at all.

"While others say don't hate nothing at all except hatred" Bob Dylan

I have one thing to say. Shale...when you say such nasty things about the Bible and change the name it is disrespectful to many human beings. Not all who read the Bible have hate or are fundamentalists. There are many of us who follow the teachings of Jesus as a guide to loving one another. I agree the OT is not pertinent to this age or time. In my opinion you are behaving on as low a frequency as Ms Davis herself with your memes and hate speech toward those you do not know.

Calling the Bible names you have made up is no different than someone calling gays faggots or the Rainbow flag Rainblow flag...I could on and on. But how does that behavior make change? How does that behavior help you to rise above those you say are horrible people? How does that show the real love and commitment between two people?

It doesn't. It puts you right there with Ms Davis. Same level...different shit.

Have nice day...and spread some love instead of so much hate. It will eat you up inside.

We heard you the first time. That's not what we're talking about here. This is about Kim Davis and those who agree with her and support her position.

Nice you how trimmed my entire post down to one sentence. :dizzy2: I posted about MsDavis and the nasty memes that are being posted about her and how doing that brings one down to HER level.

As a matter of fact, I made posts saying THIS thread is about MsDavis, but was told it was not, it was about discrimination. So...whatever. Big picture, little picture, hate...disrespect...no understanding....that's what this is about. And with attitudes I have seen posted here....nothing will change because they are all wallowing in the slime together.

    Who will rise above it?

I quoted what I was responding to.

I found them very insightful. I'm tired of people trying to spin Christian fundamentalism as greatly superior to Islamic fundamentalism just because we're more familiar with it and know people by name who practice it. They only differ in degree of coercion employed.

Yes, but Karen...when you take out one sentence of a post like that....well you aren't stupid. You know exactly how that looks and what it does. Let's not be coy...too old for that.

I haven't researched anything but of anyone has...I wonder what type of life this MsDavis has had? Could be one full of brainwashing, abuse...we don't know. There is some reason she has been married so many times...and it probably isn't because she is hypocrite, there is obviously a big issue there. She is not a happy or content human.

Instead of making hateful/harmful(and yes those posting her face with that of Islamic extremist could be very harmful to this woman and her family)rise above the ignorance. Pics like that could get her or her family killed. Does she deserve death for being ignorant? The way to change is understanding and showing those who are ignorant of your cause that you are good, caring people. Showing you are full of hate and saying such horrible things about people's faith only makes their feelings against you stronger.

Those "fundamentalists" feel the same way about you as you do them. They find you ignorant, messed up, misguided.

Ignorance isn't a disease, and if people are misguided...then guide them by your behavior. Or take a long look in the mirror and how ignorant you are of other's lives.

No understanding? Really? I'm pretty sure we all understand her position and I don't have to show her any respect whatsoever for that position. In fact, I don't have very much respect for that dimwit or people like her. That's like saying that I believe in science but respect the opinion of people who completely deny the validity of science. No....I don't....because they are dumb.
