What!?! Since when is the goal of music to "give the kids something to look up to and enjoy without fear of getting called names"? That's insane... Heh, I really like Paul, but even I laugh at that song. Hahahaha... Most of that didn't really make sense... how can anyone even understand what you're saying? Seriously, I have a hard time making sense out any of your posts.
Highly doubt it. But it is a nice thought. who knows, maybe next summer, socks will be the next big thing! No, if they really copied me, it'd be a very scary world. very very very scary.
Depends on the area I suppose. Around my parts, small minnesota town, everyone and their mother is into the oldies. Majority of the kids my age know more about classic rock than we do any other genre. We grew up on it, and it's the best we can get around here. Everything else is either new pop country, or new pop-hop. It doesn't surprise me really, Music right now is good, but not popluar music. While the older popular music of the 60's and 70's was consistently good. You just wouldn't hear any bands like Country Joe and the Fish, or the Doobie brothers on any pop stations now-a-days.
Peace, VERRY VERRY VERRY VERRY true man!!!! VERY TRUE!! keep the music in your heart brother! i know i will! i jsut need to get sleep and stop letting Cronic ( username ) get to me! later the tired flower child
heaps of people like it! I think its cos of the new rock revivial, I mean, what better way to get to know a new rock band then to get to know their influences.
well there is a difference i think between "oldies" which tends to be the pop hits of the old days, and the old music that the "alternative/indie" crowd like. like syd barrett, 13th floor elevators, and frank zappa, dont usually get played on oldies radio, and the old top 40 pop stuff is still usually too uncool for young people to like. so while young people are often keen on older music, they usually dont like neil diamond for example. also most young people dont know the difference between something made in 1965, to 1985, because to them its all just old and they dont make the distinction between punk and pre-punk music - the clash, and the beatles, is all just old.
i love the classics (beatles, zepplin, stones, doors etc.) and i think it's great if kids can appreciate the bands that have had such a positive impact on culture and society. i've also found a new band that is taking that influence and really putting out great music, they're called "The Westminster Abbey". really great band in the style of 60's 70's rock/pop. remind me of beatles, beachboys, lovin spoonful. new record is breath taking. www.thewestminsterabbey.com www.purevolume.com/thewestminsterabbey
I love music. You should all down load this band's version of white wedding. The flute player is hot too. Anything recorded before you were born is officially an oldie. anything recorded when you were growing up is a classic. Anything you think you will still be listenning to in 20 years is also classic........
