As far as I'm concerned, Dodd's fuckin' toast come the next election cycle. His rival, Simmons, a Republican no less, will get my vote, and I never vote Republican, but I will this time.
Same here, I'm not against voting Republican if the candidate is better, and in this case Simmons by far is. Jeez how bad a senator do you have to be in Connecticut after serving for that long that a Republican, in Connecticut, has a multiple point lead over you in every single poll. Even Lieberman despite all the blasting of him managed to win comfortably. Epic failure Mr. Dodd
There was no other choice, Ned Lamont was a fucking asshole, and the Republican in that election was barely in the race, he got like what, 6% of the vote
there is always another choice. try third party. atleast you can feel u voted for someone you actually like as opposed to someone you dislike less. i voted libertarian and im proud of it because i know i voted for the person i believe to be the best candidate, not the better of two terrible candidates.
I couldn't do that in that election, well at least in that particular vote in that election. Though Lieberman wound up wining by a quite a few points, all the polls before it had him and Lamont at a dead heat, and I was not going to help that asshole get into the senate for 6 years.
i will probably never vote republican or democrat unless they are the only people running. i vote libertarian because they tend to match my views. people need all the freedoms they can get and the two major parties dont really like giving people freedoms.
I do to be practical sometimes, if an election is going to be close, while one vote will almost never make a difference, it's when thousands of people go out with that mindset where one vote begins to make a difference
The reality of the situation is though that in most circumstances 3rd parties are only going to attract a marginal share of votes at best
only because so many people think that way and the word of third parties doesnt get spread enough. sounds like wasted vote syndrome to me. a vote for someone you truly like is never wasted. a vote for someone you dislike is wasted as you know u will get results u dont want when they are in office. i am less concerned with giving my vote to the winner than giving my vote to someone i know would represent me well should they somehow get in office.
Agreed. If people are so worried about the 'lesser of two evils' they should lobby for a vote against option. But what happens when everyone only votes against the person they don't want to win? But dude please don't tell me you voted for Bob Barr.
i actually voted for ron paul. i guess technically he ran as a republican but everyone knows he is a libertarian. just look at his viewpoints on everything. plus the libertarian party was asking its members to vote ron paul instead of bob barr. when something like that happens u know hes not a republican
I voted for Nader back when Bush ran against Gore, but I voted for Obama this time. Ron Paul would've been my choice, but the prospect of letting the Republicans stay in the driver's seat wasn't an option. It sucks that we're so often faced with the decision between bad and worse when it comes to viable candidates. I don't know if I felt that strongly about him, but I met him in person once, shook his hand, and his hand shake was like a limp noodle. Not that a hand shake is that big a deal, but his personal presence was like his hand shake, it gave me a bad impression, not someone I considered a leader.
My hat's off to you guys for sticking to your guns. I try to strike the balance between my principles and what I perceive to be pragmatic and feasible, more so now than in my younger days when I was driven exclusively by my ideology. I also had less on the line back then, no wife, no kids, no house, no profession. Am I a sell out? You be the judge of that, but first see if you see things the same way when you're an old fuck like myself.
