Just some thoughts on racism

stiff... dont take em so seriously. they are debating you on the TOPIC. so just calm down and express your opinion. you have that right just as others do as well.

 

im racist, well kinda, i mean it all depends on how u where raised, i was raised in an area where the only black people where poor black people who where crack heads and who lived in the ghetto, then i moved to downtown San Jose where u see mexicans on the street begging for money and shit and out selling dope i mean, i guess in a way some ppl are brought up as racists? more or less its just how u have viewed thigns ur whole life i mean today i lvie in DC, wher eu can literally see a poor or homeless, or crakced up black person on teh street i mean ppl like me wat r we supposed to think?

 

Is it still OK to hate yuppies and tourists? How about alcoholics who spit on you when they talk?

 

sorry about the tragedy, hon. but as for the racism thing, it's incorrect. the hospital does tend to do that. a dear friend of my mother's miscarried two babies in just the same way. she was a very poor white person. they do it based on your income and who's paying your hospital bills. in this case, it's not racism, it's class discrimination.

 

I think its interesting to hear that the only areas brought up in this forum to be poor are areas with a dense population of minorities in this country. There are plenty of white areas in the state of OHIO where I live... (many happen to be very rural areas) that are just as poor if not more poor than some of these ghettos that have been talked about. I don't feel like i can properly represent them or talk about them in an educated manner, but I do know they exist and I know ppl. who exist in these areas. I do feel they should be acknowledged. Just as I can not talk about ghettos of minorities in an educated manner b/c I'm a kid of the suburbs. A black girl of in the suburbs....hmmm from these forums talking about races and stuff I was beginning to think they didn't exist.

Another thing I wanted to add is I LOVE WHO I AM! I wouldn't change me or my experiances for the world (I'm wiser and more tolerant b/c of them). Sometimes I won't lie it can be hard, or heart breaking, but whose life isn't? Yes, I've had some negative experiances that come with who I am...but thats life, it doesn't always hand u the easiest card. But its what u do with that card that counts. And part of my card I feel is to show ppl. it takes all kinds. And believe me it does. My furture plans are to become a teacher... education is the only cure to ignorance. Sure I could do other things, make myself more money or whatever. But to me I don't see what could be more important than educating the worlds future leaders!
