Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was awesome. It will actually be one of the select few films that I will purchase. A lot of people said that Depp's performance reminded them of Jack-o, but I really didn't see it. I thought he acted just like a guy with a screwed up childhood who has been inside a factory with no one except Oompa Loompas to talk to for 15 years.

    Beautiful film. Bravo.

Now I might get bashed for this but, I didn't enjoy it as I did the original. Maybe its just a difference in taste. But in the original I think Gene Wilder did a much better job than Depp, Now I absolutely adore Depp, and I think Burton is a genius, but this movie just didnt do it for me. I think it was more directed towards the kids this time. The original, i think, was more for the teenagers, considering the scary tunnel and the creepy oompa loompas. And I really didn't like the mexican oompa. The songs were to modified. Maybe I just fear change. There were some funny parts. But I had myself seeing Michael Jackson through Willy Wonka. All in all, I think if you havent seen the original then youd love this movie. But I liked the original more, the odd phrases that Wonka would say. In this one, all of his phrases IVE said before. Sorry guys, I'd give it a 6 out of 10 in my view. But like i said before, a 10 out of 10 for a kid.

Please dont bash me with hate mail,(

i loved it, depp was amazing. He was really in character. I saw it with a couple of friends. One of them hated it. He said it ruined the first one. Whatever, i thought it was funny. I wish it had been a little more "dark" though.

I saw it last night, and I have to say, yet again Tim Burton created amazing sceneries, and unique characters. Although, I didn’t really like the character they made Willy Wonka into, he was kind of creepy, and not quite as loveable as the book. The side story of his childhood was.. different, almost making him even more creepy. But, who could expect Burton to leave the story exactly the same as it was written? Over all though, I loved it. The OmpaLoompa songs were great, and were a lot closer to the songs they sang in the actual book, which was great. I loved the actor that played Charlie, I thought he did an excellent job, along with his family. And again, the scenery just blew my mind.

This movie rocks! And I still love the original! This one was just different. It was very Burton-esque, which I love, and Depp did a great job at playing Willy Wonka and the little boy who played Charlie was so friggin adorable. I felt so much more drawn into his family life in this one and how they stick together and thankfully no "cheer up Charlie" song in this one as well, which was the only song I couldn't stand from the first one. I liked how this version added in the story of Willy Wonka's childhood and how the Oompa Loompa's came to be. The old version will always hold a special place in my heart, but I'll be ravin' about this one for awhile!

I just seen Charlie and The Chocolate Factory...
I have read the book, seen the old movie and the new one. I have alos seen marilyn mansons "dope hat" video where he uses Willy Wonka as inspiration. It was so good. I was sad that the Oompa Loompas all look the exact same in the 2005 movie and that they left out the scary part on the boat. Bu t I stll really liked it.

wow. yeah, i love this movie. johnny depp was great. but i love gene wilder from the old one, i don't think his perfomance can be beat, but johnny depp pulled it off and they are both good in different ways. i saw this movie twice. the second time my friend and i kept pissing people off cause we were doing the oompa loompa dances in the back row. the new songs are awesome. it was fantastic.

Haha yes i agree with the no "cheer up charlie" song. I too always hated that song. everytime it came on i would always end up fast forwarding it or going to get a snack. I was soo frickin happy when i didnt hear that song in the new movie.

I really liked this movie. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought about MJ while watching.

the new one was very good, visually, and it does stay more true to the book. But something about it just lacked a certain charm that the first one had. Personally, i prefered the gene wilder wonka over the johnny deep wonka. Not to say deep didnt do a wonderful job, he did, it just doesnt beat wilder in my book.

hold your breath, make a wish, count to three....
gene wilder defines willy wonka, I always get a warm fuzzy feeling at the end when I hear that line "I'm not going to live forever, and I don't really care to try"

that's hilarious, i thought the exact same thing when i saw it. I loved the movie. Some parts were a little lame, like the Mike TV part where he gets teleported. I'm still sticking by my first original statement....something was strangely yet DEFINITELY sexually arousing about Johnny Depp as Wonka. He was fucking sexy in it, and very funny. Johnny Depp makes my panties wet, my god.

I liked the original movie lots, but this one is right up there with it. You can't go wrong with Johnny Depp, you just fucking can't.

That's the first thing I noticed about this movie, that it was more like the book than the original movie was...

I think that's what I liked most about it, because I LOVED reading the book.
