Just saw the new Charlie & The Chocolate Factory!!!!

Yep I'm in France right now and movies come out on Wednesdays... so I went to see it today! And IT WAS GREAT!! Tim Burton did a wonderful job (once more) and this new version was a masterpiece - I must admit I was very
sceptical about the result, even directed by Tim Burton, since I love the original version and couldn't think of a better way to put it, but... honestly, it did NOT have the charm of the original one, but as a movie it was BETTER.
Not only the direction but also great new scenes, new little stories and add-ons to the original one. I loved the new Oompa-Loompas (sp? lol) - or should I say the only guy who plays all of them, they were hilarious! And Johnny Depp's
performance was... brilliant Of course it cannot be compared to Gene Wilder's performance in the original Willy Wonka, but I wouldn't say Johnny Depp wasn't as good - just different, comparing them would be unfair.


I'm really happy and I'm definitely gonna go see it again soon...

Hopefully the oompa loompas are better, they gave me the creeps in the first one

Yes, the chewing-gum girl indeed turned into a blueberry.

And the songs... they were great! They were so intentionally over the top, couldn't have been more campy. Not the I quite got all the lyrics, because even though I speak French fairly well and understood pretty much everything that was said, I find it harder to comprehend the language when it's sung as opposed to spoken.

 

Haven't seen the original and the Burton one isn't out in the theaters here, but being a Burton fan I definately want to see it. However, I really dread that he casted (again) Johnny Depp for the part.. I'm very sceptical about this.

Plus that, no matter how much I like Johnny boy, I'm starting to prefer more unknown actors because they make it easier to identify with the character.. with well-known actors I first see the actor, than the character, no matter how well they perform :/

I just got back from the movies and saw Charlie and the chocolate factory. I thought that Tim Burton did a excelent remake of Willy wonka and the chocolate factory. The special effects were great and johnny depp made a excelent willy wonka. Dont think the role could have been played better by anyone else(except gene wilder in the origional). Did any one else see it? Tell me what you thought about it if you did see it. And if you didnt see it, i would suggest to go and see it. I give it 5 stars!

 

I want to see it so bad! I love the book and the 1st movie, so I'm sure this one's going to be awesome!

I'm just about to go pick my husband up from work and we're gonna see it tonight! I'm so excited! I just watched the trailer again and it looks so good. Hopefully it will live up to my expectations.

I just saw it last night, too. It was fantastic!

For those who aren't aware, Roald Dahl (the author of the book) HATED the 1971 Gene Wilder version because it deviated from his book so much. The new one, however, stuck more to the original concept...and is far better, in my opinion. Johnny Depp, once again, proves what a great actor he is.

 

I thought it was beautiful. I think the message of the book came through more in this movie. And Veruca's song was hilarious. So much better than I thought it would be

u kno wats werid bout the new wonka? he stragly resembeled jacko.. very white skin, weird hair, sunglasses, hated his dad, messed up child hood, couldnt even say the word 'parent', the oompaas danced funky liek him, he had that weird laugh, and when he tried to get charlie to run his factory with him he wouldnt let the parents come at all

 

I saw it. I loved it!!! I want to be Willy Wonka for Halloween!!!

 

I can't wait for this movie!! Im not sure when it comes out in NZ, I know it is sometime in the next couple of weeks, I am so amped! I love Johnny Depp, and I am sad to say I HATE the original movie of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory although I adore the book, so Im hoping Im going to enjoy the movie this time round!!

 

I am really looking forward to this one, but can't for a few days. Before I read this post, I wanted to see the movie very much. Now I want to see it very, very much.
