well I test on my body before I test on my dreads. I also have a boyfriend who has volunteered himself as a guinea pig ;)

Good luck with making your own soap, are you actually going to make small test batches in your kitchen? That is pretty neat. I wanted to try it myself but don't have the time or the room to do it now.

I still wash with shampoo but now I can go about 5 days because I feel like I need to wash. I still can not get over that natural hair smell on my scalp so shampoo for me please.

where are you again? up at 183?
I saw a vet or kennel hiring up north on craigs and thought it would be funny if I accidentally got a job at the same place as you.

where 183 and 35 meet... im getting out of the vet office biz and im going to try to focus more on training/general care rather than medical. i hate working in a vet's office-such a sterile environment

i washed mine with just water yesterday and my mom said my hair smelt sweaty, but i think it was just the damp smell, cause i let them air dry and they hadnt fully dried.

i havent noticed any funky smells yet, but my headcheese doesnt seem to be movin =[

I wash with baking soda/ lemon juice ever 2 weeks (give or take) for over the past year, even before I started dreading my hair(or letting it dread- or what ever you choose to call this mess  ).
I rinse with just water almost daily though.
    My hair smells nice. :p

SL, I know you only use water so how often do you do a deep clean? Does your scalp produce excess oil after you have done a deep clean? I have been washing with water for about 6 months, and feel it may be time. But I seriously only rinse it like every other week. I would do it more often but I hate wet hair.
