OK, I give up. What is "a back door draft" ? When troops were sent to Europe and the Pacific theater during WWII, they were there through the duration of the conflict, same with Korea. I am in no way a supporter of our involvement in the mid-east. As I have posted numerous time how much I am apposed to our current war with Iraq. My point is, if your going to talk shit, get the facts straight.
You should join the army, because if you like it, good for you, and if you don't, or are sent on a mission, you can always desert and go on a plundering spree!
The rapist analogy is entirely appropriate here. No one should be offended by that, I'm not, and I'm a veteran. The point is to be fully cognizant of the consequences of your decision to join the army. If you can accept the fact that you may be required by "lawful order" to commit crimes against humanity, then go for it, but there are many members of the military who regret that decision. These are decent, honorable men and women, many of whom will be scarred for life, and for what?
First my young brother, you have to ask yourself this: Am I willing to kill or die for this? I don't know you so only you can make this decision. I will say this... I joined. But it was for the WRONG reason. I don't regret my mistake. I did learn alot got a bit stronger physically, and learned what 'self esteem' really means! I suggest you do look into the College Program tho!
dont join the military for money. then your just a common mercenary. if your gonna join the military, do it for love of your country. even if i may not agree with the war, i can respect the later reasons for the soldiers to go
I thought about joining the Airforce at about 24 years of age. I chose the airforce because I thought it would be somewhat safe, while providing me with some direction. I wanted something to change in my life. Looking back, I see that my life worked out in a good way without military experience. My dad, both my granfathers, two cousins, two uncles, and probably more all were military men. Some came out with medals and honors. I feel I would serve for honor. I feel I would kill for honor, but I would not glory in it. I would kill for my religeon if I had to protect it, but Jesus says I won't ever have to. I learned through my father's lessons that he learned from his time in the Army. He hated it every minute when he was in. He now realises that for him, the Army was helpful. I is not for everybody; the military in general. I have a respect for the military, and hope we will always have a strong one. If politicians stick to the constitution, wars will be fewer and less often occuring. They will never disapear, because there will always be enemies on the Earth, thank God. I think to have peace, it would have to be imposed on us by someone or something. Pray for peace, prepare for war.
your ignorant if you think there is goin to be a draft, and join the air force or navy, there is way more chics to bang.
I would rather go nowhere in life then to serve in an army that is used as a bargaining chip for our country, thats my opinion though. If you believe in what they are doing go for it. In the end it all boils down to you, dont go with the flow because its the flow, always ask why and know what you are signing or they will have you for your life. Or atleast until you are no use.
not entirely true...if you good at it and have experiance their's a good chance you could land a well paying job with a merc. group.
Join the Marines! if you do get deployd to iraq it'll be fr 7 months..in the army it's 15 months!!!!!!! and dont let them tell you that they pay better...all military pay is the same...if you a pfc in the air force your getting the same 1350 a month as a pfc in the marines...dependin on what your job is the money will vary also. I've already signed with the marines by the way..im planning on being a tanker...but remember...if the military want you to be a infantryman and not a clerk then your going to be and infantryman... but i say go with the marines if ...shorter deployment...same pay...moore poontang if that's what your into ( not me) slicker looking uniform ... in the AF and Navy it's a bit harder to get ranked up. takes longer... your 19 rght? you join now stay in for 20 you can retire and as a NCO or officer at 39 and have some good py for the rest of your life i say go for it man..but id give the marines a chance.. army recruiters get like points tward bonus and shit for the recruits they bring in ..so they're more inclined to blow smoke up your ass . the marine recruiters dont get no points or bonuses . and if you sign wtih the myou dont get an enlistment bonus eathir... but you do get a re-enlistment bonus and that depends on what your job is nd how much it's needed...i suggest signing up with military.com and reserching before you make a decesion.
that is idotic and shows you have no knowledge of the military at all...that realy pisses me off....you dorealise that their are otherr jobs not just ones that involve killing? communications, MEDIC , mechanic, clerk, transport, etc. electrician, hell i think even carpentry but im not sure. and if in the jobs that you trained to kill n, you dont become mindless, your trained to react, if shot at take cover and fire back. etc. so just by being in the military it makes one a mindless murderer? waht about in world war 2 , were our guys mindless murderers then? it's my belief that if you live in this country the least you could do is pay some respect to the military...maybe even aprrciate them a little... after all if it wasnt for those who served we would probly be speaking German right now lifting our right arms in the roman salute and saying sieg hail! aprreciate your freedom.. and be thankful to our men and women who serve... next time you see a military person try talking to them and find out what mindless murderers ae like
Here is my 2nd son, that is also in the Army. At the moment he is stationed in TX. I will be sending him a link to this thread and maybe he will send a messege to you to help with your misunderstanding in your military information.
sqwakers, im not sure where you get your information from. i myself have been in combat for over a year now, and i am not a mindless murderer. i am a normal guy with a wife back home and i live a normal life. and everyone gets paid the same. e1 gets the same base pay in ALL BRANCHES! e2, e3, and so on.
Well, the thing is, if you join after college your only option is to enlist, which means you would be an E3 or maybe E4, but you have to understand you will be like a fish out of water among your peers. ***************************************** my info comes mostly from 2 sons in the Army, 4 brothers who was in military...1 who has been in the USAF for 22 years & just got his PHD, and also from an ex-husband who was also in USAF.
I wouldn't call joining the military 'going with the flow'. It's hard work....a lot harder than not joining. personally i don't have any respect for people who don't serve in either the military, the peace corps, americorps or non-profits. And to be honest I couldn't with with someone who never served in the military. I have only dated one person who never served-ever and learned very quickly that there is a really big difference between guys who feel the need to join and those who don't. i am biased though. I come from an AirForce family and my fiancee is in the military as well. Has the same job my grandpa had actually!
