anyone still hanging in punk clubs that was there in 82 was a poseur then and you should not trust. they were good but overrated is an acceptable opinion. but you are still only regurgitating what other people tell you to think, so, acceptable flies out the window.

Oh man... here we go. I agree with the conclusion for the following reasons: I'm not a surfer. The only surfer type punk style I like is probablly only the Dead Kennedys (Listen to East Bay Ray play. Listen to Police Truck... Yeah its got surfer undertones) Now I can enjoy the Ramones, yes, but I'll be damned if I'm gonna freak out every time I hear mention of them. They just don't appeal. I like a much higher tempo out of my punk rock and songs that are a little more... I dunno... Agressive? I just hear them and I find something lacking while wondering why they're so idolized.
As for people who didn't leave the punk scene... What are you saying, that its a youth thing? You cant be an old punk? Seems to me that they LBDP

funny, both sex pistols and the clash listed the ramones as one of their main influences

dimebag darrell and pantera arent anything compared to the ramones (nice spelling of his name, by the way.... was it even a mis-type?) i do kinda like pantera's music a little ,but come on, fuck that. it's the people who claim to like the ramones that you should dis-like
