i love jefferson airplane. i love thier guitarist jorma kaukonen he is way cool.theres a lot of great jefferson airplane albums it is hard to choose my favorite.
bathing at baxters has got to be my favourite - after that, i'd have to pick crown of creation and pointed head JA Loves You is a great collection though - hard to choose between it and Fulton St.
Okay well i have all the albums (except Long John Silver and Bark), a live album (live at golden gate park), a few bootlegs, the Fly Jefferson Airplane DVD, Kantner's/Starship's Blows Against The Empire, and a Hot Tuna CD. Now What? I'm not really interested in The Starship, and I'm not fully into Hot Tuna yet but i am working on that. I feel done... no more airplane stuff to get/enjoy. What else is there for Airplane fans??
sounds like you've got what you need, man! i've got long john silver and bark - the best bits of em are already on the compilations, and honestly, i will never dig Starship "fly Jefferson Airplane, gets you there on time...."
Does anyone know if there is a good sounding version of the Monterey Pop Fest show available. This show is supposed to be awesome. there is one or two listed on amazon but they didn't get good reviews so IDK... -Jon
I have the dvd and the boxed set from monterey..got it online....i bidded(sp?) for the boxed set my fave live airplane is either "bless its pointed little head" or "live at the fillmore east" also, wolfgangs vault as a lot of obscure airplane set....they have some with signe, before grace....she has such a haunting, beautiful voice
Well i'm looking more for audio than video. I do have Bless It's..., Live at Filmore East, and Live at Golden Gate Park. also a few Bootlegs from '64 and one from '66 that are awesome. i also have been to wolfgang's vault which is cool... i think they said you may be able to download soon, I hope so. i'm just looking for more live airplane because that's where they really shine.
and you've got live at winterland with Papa John Creach on violin?.....it's pretty good, although i dig their studio work more than their live stuff
30 seconds over winterland? that doesn't intrest me too much but i might check it out. it is sort of expensive though and without marty and spencer. and only one classic era airplane song. so i don't know
surrealistic pillow was their archtype for me. (white rabbit and somebody to love particularly) had that on 8-track back in the early 70s. some of their earliest stuff at the park was a bit raw and disorganized for my taste. i don't really care for how they covered wooden ships the first time they did live. just as a guess, they'd probably aggree with me on that one themselves. what was great about the live and free concerts in those days is of course that they were. but no recording can really convey the ambience of that kind of situation. =^^= .../\...
if i may correct you, themnax.....wooden ships was not a cover.....it was co-written with david crosby....i think airplane did it first because roger mcguinn didnt want to do that song with the byrds....althoug i love both airplane and csny's versions for their own reasons.....
coolness, i had never known for sure. everyone always told me it belonged to the latter, but i for one have always associated it with the airplane. and pretty much prefer jefferson airplaine's studio version of it. the live at the park version that i've heard played a (very) few times is, 'a little' 'rough'. =^^= .../\...
it was paul, crosby, and nash. CSN released it on an album at the same time(or right before) airplane released volunteers. I think... anyways, great song i like airplanes version better but thats just my opinion jon
