i haven't seen the BBC news compare this to chernobyl.. i havn't seen it compared on any of the news links provided by google either

in fact a nice gentleman on the bbc news took time to explain the difference between the hydrogen exoplosion and the massive amounts of burning graphite that made chernobyl look so much like hell :)

which news was reporting it to be akin to chernobyl?

Here madcap, you need to read this, info from a 2000 NRC report on the dangers of nuclear power plants, something that has not appeared anywhere else due to the usual coverup of risks by the Nuke power industry.

In short it says to be safe, you need to be more than 500 miles away from a nuke plant when it has a disaster.

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2002-11-11-radiation-study_x.htm

Notice they point out that this study was not only repressed by the industry, but they had it removed from the record. Then it was reinstated into the record because it contained important information for those operating nuclear power plants.

    This :iagree:

If people would expand their thought process for once, we would be able to come up with something much better for our power than nuclear energy, which is dangerous and produces something we have no way of getting rid of.

We build things assuming that the earth stands still and that everything is stable, and it's not.

Apparently the Japanese are hiding the fact that it was a meltdown. A random sample of the public found nine people with radiation exposure. They are distributing iodine tablets, they've evacuated 170,000 people now.

A special military decon team is on the site.

They say there was a release of radiation due to the explosion, but it is reduced at this time.

They say the IAEA is providing more info than the Japanese.

But it's not over yet. The reactor is still not under control. There are varying reports from the IAEA and the Japanese as to whether the sea water cure is working. In fact, it may have been the input of water that caused the explosion (and subsequent release of radiation). The explosion may have also destroyed the pumping system, which would mean a meltdown is much more likely or inevitable...

    Stay tuned!

and of course there's another reactor with a problem.

it seems this way. Im just not sure what to believe at this point. Ive been trying to scour some japan websites for less western coverage. But this is been difficult, as communications are down. Some Japanese sites load video and freeze, and I can only read their emotions. Because I can't speak Japanese.

this is spooky. The sound of the Japanese earthquake/ Tectonic plate sound design. ..

I said a prayer. Then I went ahead and contributed a hundred bucks to the Red Cross. I can't really afford that right now but holy shit I had to do something useful. I just hope that 80% of that money does not go directly to help fund the upgraded leather seats on the president of the Red Cross' private jet.

I hear Japan's coastline moved 8 feet (so far).

They're now saying the death toll may top 1,800.

Three trains are missing and I saw video of two different ones and cars were scattered around, on their sides with windows missing.

Another reactor at the same plant is having cooling problems. Temps are rising.

How ironic that NBC has to issue the disclaimer that the nuclear reactors at this site are made by GE (General Electric), the parent company of NBC...
Are they embarrassed by that? Or are they turning it into a commercial for GE nuke facilities...?

GE, we make entertainment nukes! Watch us meltdown 24/7!

GE, we bring good things to .....?

I think that it's to warn viewers that certain aspects of the current activity may be left out of coverage due to mommy and daddy saying "no".

So the power plant blows up right and those fumes head strait to the sky into the air stream. Where then does that air go too? Does it go to Washington? L.A.? Or does it head to Australia? The air is not going to the moon, this is scary shit man.

From what I have read, it goes to the West Coast... and it seems like it would go to Hawaii

I feel so bad for Japanese citizens too, I mean it is bad enough that their houses have been destroyed but radiation poisoning too is really a kick in the shins.

Hey now... You don't talk to Oz! like that. And saying the public is stupid... shame on you. Shame, shame, shame.

My prayers are with the people of Japan. I hope the best for them, which, sadly, isn't much I guess... The power of thought is an amazing thing tho. It's been scientifically proven that 4 people's brainwaves thinking about the same thing is not added, but squared to equal the brainwave strength of 16 people thinking about the same thing. Whether the act prayer is proven to work or not has not been proven, but faith gets people through even the most unimaginable conditions. So, I urge you all to pray for the people of Japan.
