Japan Disaster! Hit By 9.0 Earthquake, Huge Tsunami, Nukes Meltdown

It won't be long until we all have higher levels of radiation everywhere. I think however, a way of avoiding any unresearched risks (can't be too careful) is to grow your food. Sure our soil has radiation in it already, there are trace amounts in everything...but one can only imagine what food would be like for the Japanese, with the radiation so concentrated in such an area.

I suggest growing your own food (let's hope you have land or a plot to do it) If not, grow some tomatoes and things inside...when you harvest, keep the seeds, share the seeds with your friends...I mean, it's never too late to turn back and try to be optimistic...If people are smart about it, they could potentially stifle more harm than necessary. Or maybe I'm still just an idealist.

It's a prime example of the worlds need to switch to alternative greener ,safer energy generators . Especially get away from coal fired nuke plants . Energy is big business the old powers that be will have none of it . That's why we don't see it now . Off the coast wind farms are doable safe and efficient , and there are some projects being built and some more on the drawling board in America at least . However it's not nearly enough .

The simple truth is America is going to have to build several more nuke plants to satisfy power demand . These facilities are SO expensive to build and take so long and are dangerous . No one ever thinks about it until an accident like this , which has unbelievable disastrous environmental consequences .

I remember three mile island in all its panic as i live in the next state over from it . I have worked in a couple nuke plants and they are fascinating places . Whose main daily goal is safety and security . For the most part they ARE safe ! However the problem is mother nature isn't sometimes . And she does as she wants .

Why in the hell they build so many nukes so close to the coasts is beyond me ! These things are built to withstand earthquakes , even nuclear blasts from bombs . However floods are an Achilles heel , because the water shorts out ALL power the main and secondary emergency power sources . Which is exactly what happened here . It wasn't the earthquake , it was the flood . And guess what in America there are several built right on the coast line . More accidents just waiting to happen . They and the ones in Japan should have never been built so close to the coast . Water is the most powerful ,destructive, elemental natural force on earth . It does not mix with electricity and no electrical system is completely water tight .

 

Once we shall eliminate Geology as a significant science, we shall also bring urban planning as uncomplicated free spirited science. But first we have to learn to adjust mass immigration with the armies of the world pushing us around.:afro:

Tokyo Electric Power Co injected air into the containment vessel of Fukushima reactor No 1 to artificially “lower the leak rate”. When caught, the company expressed its “sincere apologies for conducting dishonest practices”.
The misconduct came to light in 2002 after whistleblowers working for General Electric, which designed the reactor, complained to the Japanese government. Another GE employee later confessed that he had falsified records of inspections of reactor No1 in 1989 - at the request of TEPCO officials. He also admitted to falsifying other inspection reports, also on request of the client. After that incident TEPCO was forced to shut down 17 reactors, albeit temporarily.
In 2007, TEPCO ran into trouble again after misinforming government officials about breakdowns at its Kashiwazaki-Kariwa plant, which had been damaged after a magnitude 6.8 quake. In a cable released by WikiLeaks, a US official said: “TEPCO issued a corrected statement on July 18 in which it admitted it miscalculated the amount of radiation leakage.”
WikiLeaks cables also reveal that Japan was warned in 2009 that its power plants could not withstand powerful earthquakes.
The US was highly critical of Japan's senior safety director at the International Atomic Energy Association “particularly with respect to confronting Japan's own safety practices”, according to confidential documents obtained by WikiLeaks. In July 2009, in a cable to Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State, the US mission at the IAEA said Tomihiro Taniguchi, the deputy director of the IAEA department of nuclear safety and security, was a “weak manager” and in a cable sent later that year said that the department had suffered because of his “weak management and leadership skills”.

They didn't perform required inspections 2 weeks prior to the disaster. One of those plants, they failed to inspect the backup power generator. Sure enough, the backup power system failed. The lack of backup power is precisely what caused the crisis: no power to cool the fuel rods = meltdown = international environmental disaster.
The Japanese in charge downplayed the environmental danger, coupled with covering up their role in causing it.

Data on the radiation levels on the internet varies so much it really brings into question WHO [of anyone] is giving accurate data. In my view [imv] examining closely government reports for doublespeak/inconsistencies/errors/lies is the best way to determine what the REAL risk levels might be.
