I’m know that I’m posting in the wrong forum 'cus I'm 54, but here it is anyway. Moon Flower, yes indeed the worm can is definitely open. Hey girl, I can't believe that you refer to yourself with that nasty "C" word. I don't even use it and I can swear like a sailor, which I was. It seems to me you that captured the essence of all the demeaning and derogatory words that a person could throw at other races. That's really deep and tragic for someone of your tender age. "How fucking stupid can one person be? Did you not read ANYTHING in the post? Get over yourself. WE didn't do anything. Our ANCESTORS did. Black people aren't the only ones yelling RACISM, anyone who isn't white does. What is your excuse now, cracka?" Why are you carrying around all that useless baggage of hate? Boohoo people want equality [referring to where it says that "they" want to change everything that has made this country what it is]... moron...I will call you a racist...why is it "you do this. You do that." Why is it "we" and "they?"...It sounds like something Pat Robertson comes up with...For the love of humanity, get your head out of your ass...I’m not saying I support affirmative action, I’m an equalicistagain... boohoo :(cry me a freaking river. Man, I’m only on the 20th post and I’m not sure that I want to go on to read the rest. Such negativity; It’s really bringing me down, so I’ll post this and move on!!!

If you pay too much attention on here, you can get really caught up in the negativity.
I've decided I don't give a shit about anyone on here...it's only the internet.
(Mind you, if I have a relationship with you other than on the HF, chances are I care for you a lot more than the others mentioned above.)

"i don't really know how it feels to be black in a white world, nor do u. we might think differently if it were us."

Despite the fact that my avatar is green, I DO have brown skin, and it doesn't bother me.

Whoa whoa whoa, slow the fuck down. You don't have to do this whole "white power" supremacy thing. We're all people. There should be no "white power", "Black power", bullshit. I'm sorry, but I see through it all.

People just want something to "belong" to, so they start to get defensive and say, "I'm proud!". And it's like, proud of fucking what? There's nothing to be proud of. Who cares if you're "white"? Who cares if you're fucking "black"? Who cares if you're purple with yellow fucking stripes?

Just be yourself, a person. You don't have to categorize yourself into some stupid group and live your life that way. Other people will categorize you, you don't have to though. Not if you don't want to. Don't get angry at people who look different than you just because you think they...or I should say we, think that all "whites" are evil or something.

It's just that "whites", or the Europeans in history, have often been the ones to cause turmoil because of differences... Stealing the indians land, raping their women, raping the slaves' women, using "blacks" as slaves, like dirt, And you know, the whole Hitler and pure "Aryan (or however you spell that) race" crap, killing off Jews, etc. Killing people and causing turmoil amongst people who were "different" than they were.Yeah, because their skin was a little darker, or they didn't come from the same place, or beleive the same thing. Shameful we humans are, shameful.

Uggh, why is this imaginary thing we call race such a big deal, particularly in the United states? I guess because of slavery, and all that civil rights crap. Uggh, sometimes I'm so ashamed of this country. I can't help it, I'm ashamed of this country's past. And even today sometimes.

Sorry for the essay, I'm a writer, I can't help it.

About putting lables on ones self or others, you too are using that word "****." Why? Do you wear that label with pride? What if someone came up to you on the street and called you a ****. How would it feel then? I can't think of any other word in the English language that is so demeaning for a female. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

If you're addressing me, I never called myself A ****. If you're talking about my "location", it says Bust-A-****, Maryland. Jokingly. Notice the word JOKINGLY. I never called myself a ****.

sometimes a bad word like '****' can be used to express a meaning that's not pejorative: ppl use it to try and nuetralise its offensiveness by employing it differently or reversing its usage. i know, for instance, that i use the word 'poofter' alot to describe gays. over here that word used to be strictly an epithet but now a lot of the abusive connotations have gone out of the term b/c many poofters now call themselves poofters, if u kniow what i mean. similarly '****' is used by lots of my girlfriends: 'if u don't do what i want then i'll kick you in the ****' is one of their favourite phrases.

What ever happened chivalry? I do catch your drift, reverse physology. Another sick joke, "Why do they call it a Blow Job? Because, women will do the opposite of anything you ask them to do."

Not really. I've had the odd black person call me a ******, but it usually isn't worth making a fuss over. I just don't care.

"We may be finished with history, but history isn't finished with us"
    Don't know who said that.

This whole thread is a good example of the ignorance most people are living in behind the whole issue.

someone in here said "that was hundreds of years ago". Well, if you're talking about slavery it was only about 150 years ago and what about the 150 years since then?

Most people don't have a clue. People act like history is something that just lives in a book--something that doesn't effect us unless we happen to be reading that book or watching the history channel.

Wrong. History is what brought us to where we are now. Looking at it is the only way to understand why we're at the place we are now.

anybody who say's "that's history, it's got nothing to do with me" is like someone who throws a hand granade up in the air and says, "well, that's gone, not my problem anymore".

  17. we don't ding japan for pearl harbour

we got over that, I understand that there was civil rights shit still going on up till the 60's, but there are some things that we really could let go

I very well do understand history, but we do not have to be every day activly be affected by something that happened before a decent chunk of us were born, there are people benefitting from all sorts of programs that were set up as a reperation type thing that never suffered real hardship

I know that every day history passivly and in some cases activly affects us, but this is something that has been forced to the foreground even though there are reasons it shouldn't be

    it's human folly

The bombing of Pearl Harbor didn't last for 500 years

I don't think you do. Really, spend a cpl hours in the library or online reading up on what was going in this country between the civil war and the civil rights movement and come back and tell me if the statement you just made sums things up.

Of course we have to be effected by everything that happened before we were born. Not emotionally, neccasarily, but the world we live in is made out of what came before us, built by the people who came before us, and we're subject to the consequences of whatever actions they set in motion.
It isn't a matter of responsibility, it's just the socialogical version of Newtonian physics.

Reduce society to one person for the sake of metephor; If somebody spent 40 years smoking, quit for a few months, and then found out they had cancer they can't claim that they shouldn't be effected by the 40 years before they quit.

“We work hard to preserve our history.”

What history is that? A history in which those who were not white, Christian, male, and above all, wealthy, had a disadvantage by birth?

Things like affirmative action and celebrations of various minority histories, (like Martin Luther King Day), operate under the assumption that the majority already has, on an everyday basis, the advantages and celebrations that these programs and holidays provide.

Obviously, some people will attempt to wallow in victimization, but there is no way you can generalize a whole group of people on the actions of a small portion of individuals.

And yes, racist statements can run either way. But someone’s racism towards you does not justify racism towards them.

“You rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us.”

Statements like that are stereotypes that run very deep in white American consciousness. These are no better than views of white people as “the man”, “crackers”, etc. Equality is never going to really solidify unless all people learn to judge the individual, not the subdivision of humanity they were assigned by birth.

It's not a 'supremacy thing'. We ARE all people....but you totally missed the point, jack ass.

Race isn't category, it's fact. I'm not angry at people who LOOK different than me. I'm angry that because I'm white I'm racist.

It was the past, fucktard. I'M NOT RACIST. I hate a racist as much as the next person, I'm just not into the whole...."I'm black and suppressed." or "I'm Native American....you stole my land and I hate you" thing minorities have going on. THEY ARE NOT SUPPRESSED. Their ancestors may have been....THEY aren't.

    Imaginary.....are you BLIND?
Civil Rights crap....what does that have to do with being proud of who I am as a person and wanting to celebrate it as much as the next person?
Why be ashamed? If you're so fucking ashamed, get the hell out.

Sorry, I thought to be a writer you actually had to write well.
