    Hahahaha! You can use wood..

But, honestly...I had no tools back then.
I actually used snap together crates, & tossed a bedskirt on it. :& Nobody knew, & it was comfy. Slept on it for six years.
Ingenuity is the mother of invention. :)

Simple wood bed frame isn't all that tough to construct.

Now I own a double thick matress cherry wood futon, & a regular old bed with a metal frame.

Yea, I thought about using crates, and building a makeshift frame around that, and then sitting the boxsprings and mattress on top. Who would ever know?? :D

Too funny, people who sat on it always told me how comfy it was! :D Nobody knew, unless I told them.

It may even feel better, because a real bed has nothing to support you but the boxsprings itself. Who ever thought?? :)

That's not a bad suggestion for the short term but I wouldn't look at it as a permanent solution. It will buy you some time to shop around some and will leave you with a quick way of accommodating guests.

I've used one in the past to buy time while I saved for something more permanent.

*shudders* I hate air mattresses, they're a three-day backache waiting to happen for me

Our mattress/box springs for our queen sized bed were around $800.00. That's not including the bed frame itself. With the frame, we're talking around $14000.00 that we've spent on our bed. Although, that's not including the comforters and bed linens that we paid good money for. And yes, it's our most expensive piece of furniture! But we got these things over time, not all at once.

I say, because you guys are just starting out, get just the mattress right now, then later on once you're able to save up some more money, go out and get the rest. That way, it shouldn't set you back too much by doing it gradually.

No, it's not a typo. Is that a good or bad price?

It's beautifully made, solid oak, very heavy duty.

Good or bad just depends on the the quality of it I suppose. It's subjective.

    For 14 grand I bed it's awfully sturdy though.[IMG]

me and my fiance were looking for a new bed since im pregnant again and the queen size wasnt going to be able to fit him, aidena nd my soon to be big belly. so we looked on craigslist in the newspaper and found a kings size bed for 200 dollars it was the mattress box and the cheap metal frame that comes with it. it was never used. good luck and dont stress out about a bed. if anything just buy a mattress lay it on the floor and sleep like that. thats what we did for a few years well actually we slept on the floor then after a few months we got a mattress

maybe get a matress set financed? or an airmatress? my friends dad gave her money to get a bed and she instead bought an airmatress and spent the money on clothes...I slept on it with her when I went up to see her and it was comfy :)

She has told me that she would rather sleep in the floor than on one of those things. :D

Thanks mama, that's just what I was thinking actually. However, there is tax season coming up as well, which I hadn't taken into consideration, so I might be able to make it happen anyway. But if not, I have thought seriously about just buying the mattress, and then the frame later.
