up here the water lines are below frost line...5 to 6 feet

I would guess it would cost more money to put pipes that low. Also would make them harder to get to. This house was probly here before the town had running water.

What's a furnace?

 

My furnace failed inspection when the gas company came out to relight the pilot after a disconnection.

It has a cracked heater box, I think.

We've done without for years now.

nice rain storm with a bit of thunder rolled through last night.
Buddy had to wake me up because he is scared to death of thunder.
So at 3:30 am I'm sitting there, holding my 95lbs of muscle pit bull while he shakes and quivers in fear as the thunder goes on.

 

used to be able to hear everything here...then one day they decided not to warn over the radio about 2 armed and dangerous guys roaming...turns out the guys then shot a cop ,,,did his knees and elbows first before finishing him off with his own gun....

so that was their excuse for spending millions of city money on fancy new trunked digital coded radio (EDACS) system....like they blamed radio listeners for the murder

so now no one hears anything...

 

Every town has them available.
Knew a guy that worked at a newspaper so he had a scanner for work. One time he was listening to it in his car and he heard his car announced over it. 5 seconds later he was pulled over.

scanner is useless here unless you want to listen to taxi drivers and construction companies

everything else is digital (AES encryption)


you steal a radio from a cop and as soon as the dispatcher knows this they can deactivate it and take it right out of the system remotely
