If I feel like it is going nowhere good (even though its not certain) I cut such an interaction off just like that. If the person is weird enough I can be blunt enough. Usually just say 'I have no time' or 'I don't want to listen/don't bother me' if it's on a small station and they can see me do nothing a few meters further
Well I say usually but its not that it happens that often!

lots of snow here too. i had just finished shovelling and then the plow came by and pushed about 3 feet of snow/ice into the end of my driveway. we are just after a curve, so it seems like we always get more from the plow then the rest of the neigbours. on well.

 

yeah the inside corner gets more because the truck goes wide as it turns

i get lots because the neighbour place is empty and no one shovels it so the plow is pushing a solid bank....then most of it gets dumped in my drive and the next neighbour gets hardly any because it all rolled into mine

I'd like to offer you just an idea to think about.
It's not the most polite idea but it may work in some of your situations.

I have found if you are wearing white or highly visible color ear buds/headphones, one or the other plugged into your phone or media player, people will not attempt to speak with you because they hopefully realize your listing to your favorite music, podcast, news...ect.you name it. If you have long hair, try to put in pony tail so earbuds are visible. Bright color cord is a good indicator to.

Deal with rude people accordingly.

If somebody is persistent to get your attention without physical contact, asks you what you listening to, I'd reply with something that is important to you, news, podcast whatever...they will have no frame of reference and will hopefully give up on a conversation. It would take you longer to explain to them and miss what your listening to.

I think my idea would apply best on the bus, but not limited too.

I hope my idea can work for you, or at least spark a creative alternative.

they tell me it is snowing in the village but not on my side of the island

 

to add on top of that i got stomoche pains. either one on its own would leave me crippled but now the both at the same time

threw up after taking the lemon straight. not sure if thats the stomomach problem or the lemon being past the buy before date.

 

its like both pains suddenly went away instantly while i was sitting here. took three expired sleeping pills hoping to sleep off the pain about an hour ago. not sure if they will have any effect because they are old or if i will pass out in a few minutes. or if they are the reason the pain is gone. but i am just happy that i can finally think straight. sucks that today was my errand day and i got nothing done because of it but i say fuck it,,,,it could be worse right now.

 

I think the boat may be parking...they just sat in the middle of the lake for 30 minutes before docking in Kingston....they stay in the middle of the lake when its too rough....I guess it must be safer than the dock

 

we can watch the ferry on this marine app....it is focused on the island ferry but it shows all marine traffic up and down the st Lawrence and lake Ontario....if you click on a dot it will give a little status report-flag info etc

there is an island in the Chesapeake bay that is a great tourist spot. only problem is that the ferry that goes there only goes like twice a day and they are less than 2 hours apart if i remember correctly and nothing changed. a friend of mine had his own boat and went and said it wasnt worth it. so i have no intentions of going and being trapped there or spending 20 bucks to stay for only a couple hours.

its called tangier and reminds me of a second tier beer called tangier, when i first saw it i thought it was named after the island but now i think it is because its made with tangerines.

there was a commercial shot there for espn college a while back and all the locals were in it. there sure aint no colleges there and they are known for being the hicks of the peninsula.

i'll usually just give one word answers and try to act uninterested. usually they get the hint eventually. you probably have more trouble shutting them down than me since you're a woman though.
