Though I loved both Rome and Florence (the two cities give off two completely different vibes by the way...Florence is much "darker"...it is the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance after all), Assisi is my absolute favorite Italian town! It is so beautiful and everything you could imagine little Italy to be. It looks as if it is from a painting. And the people are wonderful as well. A friend and I had stopped in a little sandwich shop to get a quick bite to eat and ended up staying 2 hours. The older man who owned the shop was so talkative (he didn't speak a bit of English, and we only knew one or two words in Italian...his daughter translated) and enthusiastic about his country. We learned more about the Italian culture in the few hours we were there than we did in our entire trip. I'm going back this summer....can't wait!
