I've put too much time into this place. I always come back. I do miss a few people, but many I've always liked still post here. I can log on and talk with old friends I've known longer than actual people I've been friends with.
thanks for this. I was hoping it would be something like that I think she was sick. I guess there is no way to find out?
Heat had lung cancer. I miss her, she was a real sweetheart. Heres the thread. http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=400775&f=617
Some people cant afford internet with the state of the economy . Maby they had to sell there comp just to buy a can of beans . Some of the old members could be living in a rusty old van some where . Or some could have been commited to a mental hospitle , and not allowed access to the net . desert rat
Not to dispute that...and I certainly have no desire to be pitied! That being said, I probably have less actual money than anybody here. However, dial-up is very cheap, and I have bartered with my son and do his laundry each week in exchange for him making sure I have internet. (btw...no, he does not live here. Thank God, he is a "normal" {whatever that means} working and independent young man.) For the very most part, if a person has the slightest desire to have (any kind) of internet, that is one of the few things that can be arranged.
On the internet , my current I.S.P. is cricket , I get it with my cell phone . I am weighting for net zero to open service in Arizona they advertize a $10 a month plan .http://www.netzero.net/ This is broad band , it uses a U.S.B. port modem . For people living in a rusty van and sold there comp. to buy beans , most cites have free internet at libaries . desert rat
this is true. although i know when i went a couple years without internet, i never bothered to get on forums at the library (or the computer lab at school during the year that my college and my lack of internet overlapped). public computers in general just aren't really a place i liked to hang out, just something i would use as needed and move on. plus, if i remember correctly there was a one hour limit at the library. you could always go another hour if there were still open computers, but the place was usually pretty full so it was safest to just make sure you get everything done in an hour. also, as far as living in a van, i remember that you needed a library card to use the computers and you needed an address to get a library card.
I got a libary card to use there internet , but I had an address to give them , so I dont know if they would give some one a card with out an address , and they do have a 1 hour limit . desert rat
I recieved an e-mail from Wisp yesterday and he wanted to know how things were going on here. I told him that some of you were asking about him.
