I keep reading replies without a single port of information to support the poor englishmens point. As for taxing the US for travels abroad so be it, we shall just not go to those countries and we should impose the same for them. Infact we do do tax import goods even close to the percentage rate we are taxed for exports. If we did then alot of these damn worthless breaks in a week crap would never be bought here.


As for our entry into the war for Europe, yeah if not for your country screaming for help and supplies we would have stayed out of it until Japan attacked us. Face it England was going to fall like the rest of Europe to German control. There was a great stretch of water that would have needed to be crossed before Germany would have been a threat to us if ever.

As for your repayment, how much is your grandparents life worth, your parents, friends ect. Rest assured had other countries not jumped in those lives would never have been the same if even still there.

I have re-emerged simply to answer this one question as its probably the best in the whole thread.
After this I will definitely not be back. I have better things to do.

Ok actually yes I see where you are coming from. Ok the econnomics are that, of course, trading blocs such as the EU and NAFTA are self protectionist but I am arguing that the USA is not really serious about NAFTA. It seeks to dominate and control trade within that agreement they are vociferously self protectionist. The USA is agressive even in its most friendly of agreements. NAFTA is supposed to be an equal p[artnership of free trade, but the USA seeks even to dominate that and to protect its own borders using it. Goods may not now come through mexico and then pay the U.S tax at the border. Now they will cfome TO mexico and pay the US tax at the mexican port of origin. The point being that the USA does not see this as a NAFTA but as a barrier a buffer zone - the surrounding countries protect the USA in its aggression. In return the USA lifts its tarrifs on NA goods

That is vastly different to the EU and other trading blocks where no one country dominates the economic landscape. It is also the fact that Britains special relationship with the USA is a one way street the USA will not grant British companies the same rights within NAFTA that Britain extends to the USA within the EU (sorry these are complex issues and you need to do the research yourself - too many links needed and too much info needs to be osmosed rather than grafted on so to speak)

I see somebody knows 100% NOTHING about NAFTA. I will say all it has done is allow US based companies to send jobs to Mexico so that they US based companies can save a bundle on labor. Now instead of that helping the Mexican people with better jobs for better pay as it was suppose to do it just exploited them with bad working enviroments and cheap wages thus the steady flow of Mexicans still wanting to come to the US anyway they can.


It also allowed the shipping of goods into the US with Mexican trucks that do not meet the safety requirements for our highways.

Very true. Haven't seen any decrease on the number of Mexican nationals that are trying to illegally immigrate. That was one of the things we were promised by Clinton and the congress when they passed NAFTA.

The US now has a trade deficit with Mexico which we didn't before NAFTA. I am waiting to be shown just what we have gained.

I see many of my nieces and nephews doing the grand tour thing. I'd rather they stayed home and became more knowledgeable about their own nation. None of them have any political knowledge about their own country. But it's now the in thing, like spring break. I am all for isolating the US.

It really IS getting to that point -- where we the people have to say, "hey, WE didn't do it!" and we didn't. Questionable that "we" are running things, to say the least!

Except ... we as plain people, not citizens or anything, should just think about what we can do ... not to use more oil to fill some corporate bottom line (corporations' souls equal whatever accounting program they are using at the moment), but work to make packaging more re-cyclable, for instance, start to garden, find passive ways to use solar energy, and find at least some ways we, individuals, can try to walk upon this earth with a "small footprint," lightly as possible.

And stop having unnecessarily large families! Much of "greenhouse effect" problem is because of population explosion! Though God said "be fruitful and multiply," I think we can say, "been there ... done that!"
