you can find me, but you better not expect a free ride ill put your ass to work.
willow is stupid easy to identify. if you see a plant, and dont know what it is, you look it up. my son can identify yarrow, irises and tulips just from their first spring growth. with the right search terms you can identify almost any mystery plant on the internet. there are lots of wild edible pages and video channels and books too. im not anywhere near self sufficient yet, thats a goal. i know a lot though, because ive done a lot of research, and ive made and altered plans for years. literally years. my dad taught me to be frugal, and how to cook real food. one of his go-to cookbooks was the Joy of Cooking, it hat instructions for skinning a rabbit, how could i not be fascinated?
my mom taught me to crochet when i was 7, so i can make clothes. she was brought up on a farm and in the city. her (later in life adopted) mom teaches spinning at a historical site in Evergreen, drop spindles and wheels. she was one of 13 kids in a 2 room cabin on the prairie, a font of knowledge. i dont have a spindle, nor the wool, nor flax (though i can surely find some hemp if i want it) to spin, but in theory i could. i have written plans for building a spinning wheel. Foxfire books are awesome.
