I, like you, oppose military action. That doesn't change the legal authority POTUS has to initiate that action though.

I'm saying that it's obviously Unconstitutional. I wasn't alive when this act was passed, or I'd imagine I'd be fighting it. But there's so many laws under this government that are Unconstitutional. However, under the current bribery system, they will never be properly examined in a non-bias manner. Therefore, I believe the government is attempting to nullify the Constitution, which proves this government is totally illegitimate. Even things as little as "gag orders" infringe our freedom of speech. We need a government that works for the people-this one does not. In accordance with the 10th Amendment, people and states hold ultimate power, when their Constitution is violated. This theoretical practice is based the Consent of the Governed.

The people really do have ultimate power, we've just been apathetic so long, the government has reversed this trend through means of immoral 'laws;' giving themselves power, not with the true consent of the governed, but with the Agenda of elitiest who had the money, to manipulate a majority.

A minority is waking up however.

In answer to a question by David Frost regarding any action a president deems necessary ,including Watergate=="That means if the president does it, it's not illegal." Richard Nixon.

Obvious to you and I maybe, but so far not in the opinion of our courts or other legal scholars.

Honestly, power in the hands of "the people" (a nebulous term if I've ever heard one) is just as worrying to me as power in the hands of "the government".

Power in the hands of the people, would be really easy, as opposed to forcing people to act a certain way. People can be trusted, they just need to be a moral people, who want to live life and not cause harm. If people do cause harm- they'd be punished accordingly. But we are much more advanced today; we're not going to reverse the good things that have been done, we just need a government based on it's own rule of law (the Constitution) and we wouldn't have these problems.

When all those ppl lay dying horrible deaths from a chemical weapon I was as outraged as anyone and would have cheered had Assad's house blown up and he was just bits of meat. This kind of inhumanity requires a response and if that asswipe survives I hope he is at least a marked war criminal hunted forever by international police. Unfortunately the international community no longer hangs war criminals like they did in WWII.

However, on further reflection and viewing the world situation (Where no one but the US & France seem concerned) I have changed from my reactionary desire to punch someone to a more studied realization that THE U.S. IS NOT THE WORLD POLICE!

We have been engaged in wars in the Middle East that is becoming a new Vietnam in their uselessness and loss and no way out. We have no leadership in this nation why do we think we should offer leadership advice to any other. Democracy? BULLSHIT! We in the U.S. are governed by Plutocracy, where the rich moneyed interests have bought off ALL of our so-called democratically elected politicians (No, will not call them leaders).

Those politicians have allowed the bankers and investors and big corporations to get unbelievably wealthy while the majority of Americans are struggling at peasant wages - IF they have a job.

And now we are supposed to send more money into the Military Industrial coffers to wage another war that has nothing to do with those of us in the U.S.? NO! WE DO NOT NEED ANOTHER USELESS WAR!

I tried to call the White house this morning but the comment line was busy, so I went to the White House Webpage and sent an E-Mail to Obama:

(There's a 2.5K character limit so I kept it succinct)

"Whether Congress agrees or disagrees with military strikes in Syria, I - along with the majority of Americans entreat you not to. We have meddled in the Middle East too long and at great expense of material & lives. We have many problems in the US to attend to. Bring the warships back. Cut military spending and put the money into the US. "

Some of my friends who read this may disagree (I did initially). But if you agree with this, at least try to do something if only another e-mail that the Prez doesn't want to see. I also sent a similar e-mail to Florida Senators Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio. It may not do any good (I was out there protesting in March 2003 when Duh'bya was putting US into that useless Iraq debacle) We need to fix our own country's problems and let the rest of the world work on theirs.

SCOTUS ruled that corporations are people, and money is free speech, allowing the industrial military corporations and big oil to buy congress and the White House. That is why Obama is pushing for this war, after being elected to end the wars. The people that are protesting war with Syria, are the same voters that elected Obama. But war with Syria is huge profits for these corporations that own the U.S. government, so it doesn't matter how many American citizens are against it, this war is going to happen. The U.S. economy is based on war. Without it, bullets, bombs and the rest of the war machine doesn't get used up, so then profits dry up, workers are laid off, and recession sets in. Sorry, everyone might as well get used to perpetual war for the rest of the assistance of this country, which probably won't be too much longer. And McCain is grinning about it.

It seems your moslim friends are grinning as well. One of the warring groups is going to come out victorious and barry is making sure WE pay for their advances. So much for your taxes helping the 43%'ers of our own nation. barry turns on the voters he bought and paid for. HA HA.

    What lies?

'Despite stiff opposition at home and abroad to any military solution to the Syrian chemical weapons crisis'

Where is the 'stiff opposition to a military solution'?

'Russia, China and several other countries insist that any action taken on Syria should be first approved by the US Security Council'

'Two US officers also alleged that the White House'

    Who are they?

'something all the channels will broadcast'

    Including RT (perhaps not live)

So, Obama seems to have a window of 90 days to do something - something he isn't likely to put out there for public consumption...

So, this is a story to keep the story going?

Well the lies we know of are reporters manipulating "evidence" in Syria to make situations look worse. Including these cases like "Syria Danny" one of the most notable CNN "reporters." We also know Assad has the consent to govern the people of Syria, we don't know Assad commited the Chemical Attack- But America wants war before the evidence. Just looking at these facts, is premise for suspicion, to think something else is going on.

Why is the US government funding our enemies, when clearly there is no benefit to the World as a whole, and their arguement is based off faulty evidence and saying "WE KNOW he did it" Just like they "knew" Saddam had WMD's. We're seeing the same show play over again.
