I don't think it's a good name at all. Then again I'm biased- the parts of my family that didn't flee Europe were all murdered by either Stalin or Hitler, depending on where they lived.

It's kind of dishonoring those who died by understating the evilness of either man by naming a dog after them.

I'd have to agree with SilverClover and Heaven. If I were to met you walking your dog and found out his name was Stalin, I would think you were an idiot; not funny, cleaver, whimsical, or a bad-ass. I would think you were an idiot, completely unaware of who Stalin actually was, what he did, and insensitive to millions of people who died and were enslaved by him. It's not funny, it's rude. It wouldn't bring you or your dog respect, it would bring riddicule. I am not trying to cap or clown, I just really would not name your dog that name. Get creative. Btw, what kind of dog is it?

Ha. My location says Germany, but I am born and raised in the SF Bay Area. Boyeeeee. :). I am definately not someone who lives a politically correct life. I just think that in this particular case, naming your dog Stalin is like naming him Hitler. It's not a name for fear, but for repulsion.

    you Germans are....

that is a very shallow comment at first. At second political correctness is good, when you disclaim things like mass murderers.

Goldmund is right, there is a borderline for jokes.
