Hostile and detrimental?

well first of all I informed him on what he was talking about which was eugenics.

then I asked him some questions which he never answered.

then I expressed my view that there always has been stupid people.

the only hostile thing I did was tell him to take his own advice which was a joke i would never think he would actually go out and do it or anything.

should I not inform people, ask questions or make jokes in a debate?

he says right in his first post that he wanted to start a debate, while I gave him one.

back on topic what I think is the main problem with stupid people having lots of kids is lack of knowledge on birth control. if you really wanted to help the situation you should promote education on birthcontrol.

 

I think maybe the people saying that we are over reacting (cause I agree with you on this issue) seem to not want people to be offended by what they say.
these people are telling us to chill its only the internet, maybe the advice should go both ways, the amount of times I have heard on here the excuse of 'its only a joke' well an offensive comment is still an offensive comment, however it was ment in the first place.
with the amount of people that come on the net of different life styles, if you post something to start a debate even a joking one, expect for people to get offended or to disagree

hm, i am a big believer words only have the meaning assigned to them. words alone can have such varient. language is only one form of expression. i can say in an argument to someone 'fuck you' and said in an aggressive manner it has its full on intent...however, the same words can be said jokily to a friend who is winding me up and they wont be offended, they'll laugh an perhaps, comment back. it is jest. when a tone of voice and facial and body mannerisms accompany words it is easier to receive them in the intended way. when words appear as text, for example on the internet, it is easier to take them in a way other than the way in which they were primarily intended. the other day in a gay bar, the bar girl and manager is bi, one of the gay guys, joked that she was a dirty bisexual, it was a joke amidst a bit of banter...no offence was taken as the guy in question does not really believe the comment he made, it was a joke...teasing, banter and it was taken as such. it was made in a friendly safe environment within a group of friends who knew each other. had there been non regulars there, im sure the comment wouldnt have been made incase of offense...its knowing each other and knowing boundaries...

i was at the workhouse festival nr shrewsbury earlier this year and a stall had a sign "hippies use the backdoor" - we laughed as we walked past. now put that exact same sign outside the hilton hotel...and we would find it offensive. same words, same sign, different reaction.

 

I used to think like that and then I realised its the process of natural selection, pretty soon theyle interbreed till theyre cognative faculties no longer register biological intent and will no longer drive to procreate.

Or you could do what someone once suggested

"chemicaly castrate all children then at the age of 18 provide them with a set of social and intelligence skills then those that pass get sent on a course those that complete are then allowed to procreate" sorry I forget which doctor said it.

 

If the process of natural selection will eventually weed out the incredibly stupid, then evolution has a lot of work to do to keep the human race from dying out altogether. Drive through any major city in the world. One would think that the average human has a death wish or has no respect at all for the lives of others. Watch 15 minutes of TV. If you don't recognize the insipid dullness of the human race as a whole then (congratulations) you have joined the majority. Stupid people are everywhere but they aren't the problem, they're the symptom.

I don't advocate eugenics because that is elitist bullshit. I advocate NOT BREEDING for at least one generation, perhaps two. Let the human race die back enough for the earth to repair herself and provide enough time for us to prepare a better education system, a better social system, better infrastructure, less pollution, less consumption, less everything.

Ban babies for 30 years. The alternative is more population, more pollution, more consumption, more disease, famine, starvation, death, ugliness. Stupid people are just a byproduct.

 

Yeah if left to nature to do it but the idiots natual pertensity to harm itself will increase the process dramaticaly ( well I can only hope)

 

or you could just ley conciencious people breed... and have no more than 2 children per couple... this would reduce consumption and pollution and also produce a conciencious generation of respectful children... rather than just stopping it for a bit but then letting everyone shagg like bunnies again.

i can pretty much garuntee that my family unit(me my g/f and our baby) consumes much less than the average couple without a child. its not about stopping children... its about creating a new wave generation.

 

You sound well proud of yourself mate. Possibly a little too proud? I guarantee that you consume far more than i do living on my own though. I am not in a couple, nor do i intend to have children. If we follow that argument through, maybe people should not be able to breed at all..? I'm sure the world would appreciate it, even if humanity wouldn't.

Now you are suggesting that eugenics is a good idea. So yeah, this is a pretty offensive suggestion, but I suppose these ideas need to be got out in the open and nipped in the bud before they turn into full-blown fascism...

Interestingly it is this kind of "pride" that Cerebus mentioned which is the main problem with eugenics. How do you determine which traits are beneficial, without imposing your own cultural bias? Are you sure that the traits you want to see "bred out" of the genepool are the wrong ones? Sure enough to cause the extinction of whole swathes of society and create a more homogenous, ubermensch version of the human race?

This may have just been a "passing thought" but I think you need to do some reading up on the history of eugenics and this 'final solution' you seem to have happened upon

another articale in the news paper last week... a mother of 2 killed her children to stop the father getting custody...
every month there is another horrendous child abuse case..
now i know its unfair to dictate who can have children, and in this wonderfully liberal world, we don't like to be seen to be the one even suggesting that something should be done...

but by giving certain people rights to have children you are then garunteeing that child a life of misery... i would rather take the flack of being a eugenetisit ( or what ever it would be) than know that another child is being forced to live in its own shit because its parents want to play video games. ( an incident iin uk in march-ish time).

the problem is however... that you just don't know who's an abusive parent until they abuse. and by then its a little to late.
