I know this wasn't true for my American friends when they went to school in the 70s and 80s, but when I was growing up in England we had huge problems with bombings, with the IRA in school. There was always a bombing, sometimes as often as once a month, sometimes more, sometimes less. We all were taught what to do.
Many people my age grew up next to uncleared bomb-sites from WWII, some kids still do. In France there are still the bullet holes in the walls from previous battles. Those sorts of things either focus the mind or depress it.
Kids of every generation brought and will bring knives and weapons into school, got high, tried killing themselves, got called lazy, whatever.
The only thing that has changed with the actions of each generation is more effective mass-broadcasting.

Of course, you're still sitting around on this intellectual masturbation, wasting electricity coming from either environmentaly damaging hydro-electric dams or oil-burning powerplants.

so maybe you shouldn't speak about your piousness quite yet.

And I respect that. I'm not saying have another 60's the issues are different, and this is the age of Digital.

Sitting on a forum, reading about current issues, expressing my opinions on them is wasting time? Trying to find like minded people so that we may discuss ways in which to help is wasting time?

I swear after the bombings on London trains I thought some red haired guy was going to come on tv and say, the IRA was back.

I'm sorry, truly, have I been coming off like the preacher "I'm perfect" type? I'm not forcing anyone to do anything, I'm not saying my idealistic ideals are right. I was merely trying to get opinons and ideas on our generation's apathy =/

And I got opinions, so I suppose I'm satisfied.

Try talking to people in person. It's this neat thing called reality.

I personally don't ever try to find like minded people. I talk to whoever. And express my opinions and they express theirs. Its a lot more effective.

And being on the computer for chit chat (which, i'm sorry this is all this ever ammounts to) is wasting electricity. hmm...

Thats what they announced, just after they said it was 'random' power outages, and just before they announced that it was an al qaeda attack.

You hear that they are not going to investigate the bombings? All because Bloody Sunday is costing them millions of pounds?

They claim other reasons. We'll see.

I'm utilizing the tools of the future, the internet is a powerful tool. In fact it's become the new medium for petitons and writing senators.

He's right though. Online petitions are crap. Petitions in real life are only good to get your name on the ballot. They are meaningless when it comes to the government and therefore a waste of time.

    Except the treadmill, apparently.

Don't say shit like this. This is just some barely concealed fantasy to bring back the sixties - and the inclusive piousness is pissing me off.

Hahaha, I was saying it more in a sense of "lol" Your antics are great.

Ouch a personal attack, what have I done to anger you so? I stated that I think we should keep on trying to change the world, nothing more =/

don't give yourself too much credit here - you're just mildly pompous, vaguely annoying, and all too self-satisfied. and my natural reaction is to make fun of folks like that.

I don't know about claiming other reasons, but the government and probably the next one too, will no doubt continue the great tradition of ignoring the appeals for help from victim's relatives and investigate so slowly that anyone connected will have long since passed away come any ruling.

The great British political ethos of do nothing, be seen to be smiling, visit the public once every 4 years and take bloody huge lunch breaks.
