No, it's just another poisoned word use by the right against the left. No argument here. To a certain degree, we're supposed to distrust government, we are the one's that are supposed to keep them on their toes, not the other way around. Anarchism is the ultimate form of government really... The only government man should need is his own mind, right? You and I both know shit is way too complex for that to work in our post-modern society. We can work toward Anarchy, but there are a lot of fucked up folks out there, we are gonna need some socialism along the way and we are going to need people to help administrate, no? left enough for ya? Howz about some left-of-left...:smoking: Here's an Anarcho-socialist hypothetical for ya... If the workers of a factory had financial interest in the company and made decisions by way of democratic vote, would they ever vote to have their jobs shipped overseas? :dizzy2:
zombiewolf I will give you that point. While Sweden and Demark do show us that socialism can work to an austounding degree of success they seem to be the exception to date. And please tell me since when has government not been run by assholes? I have ran accross a small handful of politicians in my time that where actually looking out for the good of the common people. The concept of polotics and government is fucked imo. It went from being out to help us better our lives to controling every aspect of our lives. Just my opinions and thoughts...
Socialism is NOTHING more than MONOPOLY CAPITALISM controlled by the state (which in turn is controlled by the banks), where the people's wealth is confiscated then used to expand the size and scope of the corporate state, which does always resort in fascism eventually. That is the true intent of socialism. Socialism is a tool of fascism. Liberals apparently have their own sugar-coated definition of what socialism is, though, particularly that which is disseminated through academia. That version of utopian, fairy-tale socialism, which is non-existent and unattainable, is far different from what socialism has, in reality, always been and always will be. There are no bigger proponents of socialism than the ultra rich. It is a great tool of power consolidation and enslavement. Get the people dependent on government as you suck them dry of their wealth, while that stolen money is then used to manufacture their own shackles. Quite literally, in fact.
Yawn, there's at least one member here who doesn't know what they are saying. Before you define Socialism you must say which exponent's Socialism you're discussing. There are many Socialisms. Socialism is always the left, and Fascism is always the right. The two do not meet. If you use the terms with complete abandon then you're just being a typical sloppy mushbrain. Define terms before you wield them into battle. Or you'll just kill yourself.
I still don't think those country's qualify as being purely socialist, and they do have their problems...but government should always be a work in progress anyway, evolving with the needs and desires of the people.
So how do you feel about socialist programs that have been in place so long they are generally accepted as a way of life? One obvious example being free compulsory education.
Well no those countries are Monarchies that have adapted many socialist programs to work for their respective citizens. When you say purely socialist don't you mean communist? If thats the case I doubt a good example exists. In theory socialism looks like uptopia. In reality no country to date that I'm aware of has pulled off this feat. It will never happen imo corruption, greed and the thirst for power will always take root in politics and government.
^^^We could probably use a good Monarchy here, for a while anyway. Just to clear up a few stubborn problems like unnecessary wars and the wholesale economic rape by giant multinational corporations.
Well, this does not surprise me as some of the most educated people are also some of the most brainwashed and devoid of free thought. There is a big difference between being educated and being intelligent. Education is institutionalized and controlled by the system -- intellectual free thinking is not.
^^^Chomsky points this out all the time. Still doesn't invalidate socialism. ...say "Utopia" one more time, punk! :biker: BTW couldn't you have scowled just a little more for that avatar pic?
Free compulsory state indoctrination is more like it. Yeah, I am against government brainwashing. Funny how as the Federal government puts more money into education, taking increasing control over it, the worse education becomes.
Or the police dept or firefighters.... Could u imagine paying a bill for school, cops or firefighters? Sry sir you didnt pay ur fire bill we cant response...... I think obama bin laden is fascist....
The reptilains got you! I think your to dependent on the idea that we need this big ass government that we have to b considered reasonable. I think government shouldnt be as involved as it is with its own peoples affair let alone outside nations affairs.
hisssssss--I hate to see people just give up. Yeah,a lot of it is rotten. Yeah, people behind the scenes pull the strings. Yeah,we're losing some civil rights. All that shit. So just give up,bend over and take it? We all hang together or we all hang separately, said by one of our sages. Maybe it's too late for us.
