Nirvana was Rock´n´roll band? :) I still thought they played grunge ;)
In my opinion they were too unique by comparison with the other rock bands. It´s impossible for me. There are great rock´n´roll bands and Nirvana ;)

And I don´t think they made poor music only because of angst and grief in it, like somebody said.

    NO.
    This is grunge.

    Nirvana got called grunge.
But the 'grunge' movement was very odd in general, as most all of the bands that got labeled grunge sounded completely different from each other.
I much prefer 'Seattle Sound' for the mainstream "grunge" bands.

  4. Nirvana said they were like, a tribute to punk. I have 'em next to all my punk CDs. I don't know, though...alternative? I don't think Kurt was into the term "grunge".

Who knows. Like 'em better than Alice in Chains, myself. But I like STP better than Alice in Chains, a band they got compared to.

Hell no, you can't replace lack of talent with popularity... If you like it, then great, they have some rhythm, and a few songs were ok, but they are far from good musicians, let alone having a greatest cd of all time... not to disrespect a dead drug addict, but I'm a guitarist and a musician with hundreds of cd's with far better bands, but that's just my opinion, so respect to those with different taste.

    Peace all
