Is it wrong to emphasize how much smarter you are than others?

yeah, my family always treated me like i was a genius. i learned otherwise. i realized they let me think i was smart because i'm the only one who sucks at sports. i was sad, bewildered, etc. now i'm happy with it. acceptance is good.

 

well, id buy what youre sellin, but you are smart. duuuuh. We established also that you are better at many other things that your family wouldnt let you be.

well, I guess I dont know how smart they told you were. It's not like you recreated atomic particles or anything but you're pretty smart, still.

 

Intellect can easily hinder someone from success.

 

yeah, sometimes knowing you shouldn't be able to do something gets in the way of accomplishing anything.

 

I find know-it-alls rather annoying. I know when it comes to my life outside the house, I'm smarter than just about everyone I come into contact with, but I don't see any use in making that known. It's really hard to get along with someone you feel is looking down their nose at you all the time.

Well yes.

But I think that at times a person may come off as an asshole who makes sure to show people that he is smarter than them, while in reality he is just very opinionated and extremely strong in his convictions.

 

Thats no problem. The issue I have is when people correct others constantly in a show of how much smarter they are. I will hold my tongue many times to not be that guy.

 

Except when you correct someone's bad spelling....You don't need to be a genius to know how to spell.

 

i tend to never correct people fo real. joking around maybe. i'm pretty fine with people doing their thing. unless they ask me to. then i'll be honest. which means they don't ask me anymore and everythings great again. yay.

YES, because if you're truly smarter then you should have learned humility by now.
By being arrogant you show your ignorance.

 

I think there are different types of intelligence.
Problem solving logic based.
Practical intelligence
Creative
And interpersonal/ emotional.

And some very clever people do/say some really stupid shit.
And some retarded clowns get to run countries..

To answer the q, intelligence shows thro reasoning and results not just yelling "I'm cleverer"

i dunno, regarding the OP, sometimes being that guy is an amusing character quirk and works for some people, like face eater, rat, bsr, dave techie...sometimes it's really annoying. depends on the person.
