Because his posts, behaviour, and general attitude thusfar has been the antithesis of what enlightement is commonly understood to be and represent.

 

Thanks man at least someones with me. Some of these guys are comparing me to Zen masters and whatnot. I said I was spiritually enlightened, I never said I was Buddha. Enlightenment works in levels. Buddha is obviously alot more enlightened than me or anyone else on these forums, as well as any Zen Master you can choose. But we are still both enlightened...just to different degrees.

No, I'd have to say that I haven't seen anything that would suggest an "enlightened" individual. As a matter of fact, why don't you give us another term for enlightened? It honestly seems to me that you've learned a few technical terms about religion, taken what you wanted and left the rest behind.

Actually, yeah, you should say that you love them. Why does their attitude interfere with yours? THAT'S what your so-called enlightenment is about.

There's an old Taoist story about this. The details won't be exact, but the message is still there.

John and Bob were walking through the woods one day, just talking, chilling, checking out the life around them. Well, Bob looks down and sees a snake trapped under a rock. "Hold on just a second, I'm gonna help him." "Ok." says John.

Bob bends down and tries to lift the rock off of the snake, but the snake bites him. "Ow, fuck! You little bastard!" His hand was very sore and red, and starting to swell a little, but regardless, he reaches down again to try to pick up the rock. And once again, he's bit. "You son of a fucking bitch! I'm trying to help you here! Calm the fuck down!" and he reaches for the rock again, with the same results. By this time, his hand is almost un-usable and very swollen. He figures the snake was probably poisonous.

This goes on a few more times before John just looks at him and goes "Dude, WTF are you doing? You've reached down to help that ungrateful bastard 8 times now, and 8 times you've been bit! Leave him there to die!"

Bob looks up with a disappointed look in his eye and tells John that "Just because it's in this snake's naure to hurt, doesn't change the fact that it's in my nature to help. Could you call an ambulance for me? I'm feeling kind of faint." and goes back to moving the rock with his other hand.

If you even knew the meaning of enlightenment, transcendence or anything of the sort, you WOULD love everyone, regardless of how they treat you, because you would realize that you're only projecting your problems onto them.

You may have taken the first steps to enlightenment, but you've got a long way to go.

And I'd like to add one more thing: my mom used to tell me all the time that "You catch more flies with honey than you will vinegar."

everyone... just thinking that you are enlightened should prove to you how unenlightened you are.

Spiritual enlightenment isn't somthing you achieve. Its a goal that you should aspire to every day you live.

wutthe4k, I think that you have to stop thinking so much about what other people think about you and just BE. No sense in being riled up over people's opinions on the internet. It may be that you have learned a lot and are wise beyond your years, and it could be that this is the rift you percieve bbetween yourself and the folks around you... I would sugggest taking this to heart-
