A child would then see the opposite sex and sex toys, that would promote a very wrong message, and in later years would probably lead to rape or sexual harrasment.

    cynical_otter,

    absolutely correct

When adults become so sexually depraved that children become an option for their sexual pleasure then they're truly sick and beyond hope.

I think the only option is surgery (If you know what I mean)

Teenage sexual activity is an issue of wide*spread national concern. Although teen sexual activity has declined in recent years, the overall rate is still high. In 1997, approximately 48 percent of American teenagers of high-school age were or had been sexually active.
The problems associated with teen sexual activity are well-known. Every day, 8,000 teen*agers in the United States become infected by a sexually transmitted disease.[1] This year, nearly 3 million teens will become infected. Overall, roughly one-quarter of the nation’s sexually active teens have been infected by a sexually transmitted disease (STD).[2]

The problems of pregnancy and out-of-wed*lock childbearing are also severe. In 2000, some 240,000 children were born to girls aged 18 or younger.[3] Nearly all these teenage moth*ers were unmarried. These mothers and their children have an extremely high probability of long-term poverty and welfare dependence. Less widely known are the psychological and emotional problems associated with teen*age sexual activity. The present study exam*ines the linkage between teenage sexual activity and emotional health. The findings show that:

When compared to teens who are not sex*ually active, teenage boys and girls who are sexually active are significantly less likely to be happy and more likely to feel depressed.

When compared to teens who are not sex*ually active, teenage boys and girls who are sexually active are significantly more likely to attempt suicide.

Thus, in addition to its role in promoting teen pregnancy and the current epidemic of STDs, early sexual activity is a substantial fac*tor in undermining the emotional well-being of American teenagers.

    DATA SOURCE AND METHODS

The data used in this analysis are taken from the National Longitudinal Survey of Adoles*cent Health, Wave II, 1996. This “Ad-Health” survey is a nationwide survey designed to examine the health-related behaviors of ado*lescents in middle school and high school. Its public-use database contains responses from approximately 6,500 adolescents, representa*tive of teenagers across the nation. The survey is funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and 17 other federal agencies.

This Heritage CDA analysis focuses on the link between sexual activity and emotional well-being among teens in high school years (ages 14 through 17). The Ad-Health survey asks students whether they have “ever had sexual intercourse.”[4] For purposes of analysis, teens who answered yes to this question are labeled as “sexually active” and those who answered no are labeled as “not sexually active.”

The survey also records the emo*tional health of teens. Students are asked how often, in the past week, they “felt depressed.” They are provided with four possible answers to the ques*tion: They felt depressed

    (a) Never or rarely,
    (b) Sometimes,
    (c) A lot of the time, or
    (d) Most of the time or all of the time.

For purposes of analysis, the classifi*cation of depressed is given tothose teens who answered yes to options “c” or “d”—that is, they said they felt depressed a lot, most, or all of the time. Thus, throughout the paper, the terms “depressed” or “depression” refer to this general state of continuing unhappiness rather than to a more specific sense of clinical depression.http://www.heritage.org/Research/Family/cda0304.cfm

it is those who define 'wrongness' in an arbitrary and baseless mannor who are the real sick ohs. it is ONLY because of their doing so that so much trauma evolving arround this issue exists at all.

    The REAL question is :

Is it OK for children to MAKE child porn?

When I was 7 years old, my 14 year old cousin had taken polaroids of herself doing "extracurricular" activities with her genitalia.

I saw them. And, admittedly, liked it. At age 7.

Ok, so I have always been a horn dog, but hey...

Could she have been arrested? If so, then the law is fucked.

Dear goodness, don't tell me that! My oldest is turning 7 years old tomorrow!

He thinks kissing is "totally gross", so I highly doubt he'd like seeing stuff like that at all. Not my baby boy. No. Never. Please. Oh goodness I'm growing faint. :rolleyes5 ;)

Seriously though, I don't think it's alright for children to view pornography. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

That is just about the cutest post I have ever read.

And NO, it is not okay for children to view ANY pornography, let alone child porn. I didn't see any porn until I was about 14 years old, and I think that was too young. A person needs to have a healthy understanding of sex before they begin viewing pornography.

Children are naturally curious regarding sexuality, but to expose them to explict sexual material is wrong and even criminal

really? I found it a little terrifying, like maybe she isnt' willing to recognize that her son is gonna grow up, just wants to shelter him from the world. Just... a gut reaction, not necessarily accurate to reality by any stretch

Look.. if the kid had to act in the damn thing, he should atleast get to see the final product.

    That was in horrible taste.

    I apologize.

i had my first kiss when i was 10, viewed playboy/penthouse when i was 10...

should a child view child porn - i don't think anyone should view child porn. its just sick. now, i don't necessarily think that a child is going to be able to discern the true nature of child porn vs porn in a playboy/penthouse. i dont' think i would have knew the difference as a child.

should a child view porn (legal) - everyone grows up different and experiences things differenty. this is why i think its a very good thing to have open lines of communication between parent and child. if you just tell them no, they'll (for the most part) keep looking and finding new ways to view porn if thats what they interest in. i viewed it at 10, i know some of my friends didn't until high school.

people have ALWAYS been saying children grow up too fast these days. i wouldn't be surprised if people weren't saying that four or five THOUSAND years ago. and it's just as much bladderbloat now as it was then, or then as it is now.

it may well be though, that there are too many and diverse factors to each and every individual context, that, as i believe, it really is entirely wrong for anyone to dictate this for anyone else.

it is a cultural factor. even a culture defining factor, granted. i also think we, most of us, live in a culture, that is totaly fucked. for reasons that have nothing to do with what age at which growing up we first encounter the concept of erotic stimulation.

i still believe firmly, that all this big whoop dee doo about it is a symtom of that fucked up ness, in turn at least partialy a product of the hypocracy of chauvanistic beliefs.
