what it is parents either being to liberal and allowing their kids to do whatever they want OR, more often than the other, parents being to strict making sex sound like a crime and that just makes kids want to do it more. parents need to instill a sense of responsibility and importance in the act of love making, while not shunning it or condoning doing it to liberaly.

also whats happening is young girls today are using the equal rights line to say they can bang whatever moves since guys can do it and its more socialy acceptable.

Maybe it's not a question of being slutty, or being whores. Maybe it's a question of expectation. Any healthy (straight) young man is all about exploring a woman, that's what they do, but to judge the women for their part, or for wanting to explore a man is stupid. It's nature. I agree that there should be some education and responsibility when it comes to sex, but the answer isn't name calling.

I think we're influenced by our urges, social conditioning and a slew of other factors, but it comes down to self control. Women are expected to have it, and men are excused from it. It seems to me that they're getting tired of the double standard.

Back to the guy that raped your mother. Are you going to expect him to have had the self control to keep from it? Yes! We as a society expect self control from everyone, but HOW MUCH self control depends on socially acceptable patterns or norms. The socially acceptable pattern for sexuality among women is changing, it's becoming more balanced with the expectations of men.

i think that the term 'slut' is badly defined these days if it has solely come to mean someone who has had multiple sexual partners. traditionally, it meant a woman who was 'dirty', or disrespectable in some manner. and thats where so much of the controversy in this thread has come from

what JS referred to, in my opinion, *could* perhaps be described as slutty. i can honestly say that i have never experienced anything like that, maybe i just don't go to those same types of bars...and maybe its just me, but if a woman feels that she has to put out in order to get someone to like her, thats a bit sad. if she thinks that all she is good for is being a cum-bucket, thats VERY sad. but i would think that in a hippie community, we'd be a little bit more open-minded and be able to recognize the difference between a woman who is using sex in order to try to find a pride in herself that isn't there, and a woman who feels free to enjoy her body the way that it was intended.

lets say for the sake of argument that i've had ten sexual partners, say that i have ten more, say that i have twenty- does that make me a slut? and a better question, does it matter? its my choice. but really, i don't think it does as long as i have respect for myself and respect for my partners. we were designed as sexual beings and we live in a world where we're free to express that sexuality. but we have to live with the consequences of our actions, whether that be an unexpected pregnancy, whether that be an STD, whether that be being referred to as a 'slut' by others who cannot experience the peace of mind that comes from sexual freedom. freedom in the choice of whether we will have one partner or many, whether we're making love, having sex, or animalistically fucking and knowing that there's nothing wrong with it!

i have not had an experience that i regret. i take care of myself, i respect myself, and i live with the outcomes of the choices that i make in life. i may occasionally enjoy the act of love without being IN love, but i'm definately not a slut.

Yes. Going to College with the mentioned generation of homesick females, they get around a lot.
