Well, I'm sure few would care if AIDS was not around.....or STDs in general, those kind of things are the big reasons why people are so much into the personal life now. I myself don't really care unless it's with someone I'm sleeping with, and no I don't outright ask how many partners she's slept with, but I kinda plan ahead and know what I'm getting myself into, with some girls you know if they're whores or not, so you can make the decision, but really I think it's up to the woman. What really pisses me off is how manwhores who have slept with 10+ girls can come to call girls that have slept with maybe 4 or 5 guys whores. I think juding others is the main issue, we shouldn't judge unless we know and then of course we should look at ourselves and where we are.

It occurs to me, being 37 years old soon, right between the old and new hippies, that the 60's hippy generation got all of us younsters started in the Free Love phenomenon...where do you think the young men and women of today learned this behavior? When first coming up, we all tend to emulate those we love. The love-ins of the 60s have evolved to the promiscuity of today. So, come on everyone, let's don't criticize each other. Granted I don't think people should get into "free love" if they have hangups about themselves...or significant others who don't know about it and aren't involved....

I beleive that in a lot of situations girls and guys are either complete prudes or total sluts. Less people are in the middle group today than there were in the past.

I know its cliche but I do put some blame on the media, which emphasises physical relationship, "hitting it" and dressing in clothes that dont cover too much of the body. Family values and religion are taking a back seat to the laguna beach and pimpin it lifestyles.

I just thought of a funny story while typing this... A few years ago in college we were at a friends house party. It was me, my roommate, the host of the party and a few girls we were friends with sitting around the table. one girl brougth up the size of the hosts penis and we all laughed and giggled. I think too much emphasis on sex takes away from the focus on finding a serious relationship. I know a lot of feminists don't like the idea of a family unit, but I really think the father figure and mother figure are important. Granted, I think falling into some strict notion of family is silly, but the family in itself is important.

I think Dave Chapelle said it well that we've if pussy was stock it'd be plummetting because we've "flooded the market".

Also, I want to say this right now. I hate the idea of "I should do what I want that makes me happy!". If you are serious, then why not do crack? heroin? Why not do it all? Happiness in my opinion does not precede logic and responsible actions (mostly because they can and should co-exist). Also, thinking that what you do does not affect others makes no sense... Especially when discussing having sex with other people.

I'm going to append to this by saying I additionally respect ones choice to engage in alternate lifestyles, despite my disagreement with them. My opinions were mostly directed towards the topic of whether or not our generation is too slutty, a topic outside of Free Love. I feel my opinion is mutually exclusive from the topic of free love simply because I think that is a choice adults make while I think much of our younger generation are losing their virginity BEFORE adulthood, and experimenting with dangerous drugs also BEFORE adulthood.

I dont think slutty is the word, everyone is more free. People have less prejudges today than they had before, also people are more open to experiment their sexuality and accept it, instead of seeing it as tabboo. Being sexual nowdays is something that is allowed and that you can talk about, people are more educated about it and the less ignorant you are about something the more willing you are to do it.

I'm talking from the interaction I've had with my family. I dont think is not uncommon to find older people saying "in my time things used to be" or the face of schock when you mention the word sex. I base my opinion (because that's what it is) on that, is not a fact is a perception.
You dont need to be in a certain time to know things about it, information has a way of traveling through time.
I wasn't there in WWII but I know what happened, yeah I know the difference between an historical event and a sociological one.. with the last one the information tends to be more subjective.
Also there's a lot you can learn from reading things written in a certain time, movies made in a certain time, tv shows, news, etc those things usually reflect aspects of a society.

It's funny when I see a 29 yr old thinking that the only way to know things is by being there.
