Hey everyone,

For the purposes of this board my name is Dharmaandpeace...it's not really but you know!
Anyway...I am currently 17 and a first year university student, I'm doing a Bachelor of Communication studies and I plan to major in Linguistics and English. I'm not really sure what I want to do after uni but I really want to travel anywhere and everywhere...I'm saving up for Thailand at the moment.
I am passionate about words in any shape or form, and peace. My mother thinks I'm in an idealistic phase at the moment...there are much worse places to be! I love dancing and collecting leaves. I have very eclectic tastes in music, I love show songs like Andrew Lloyd Webber, I love the beatles, and the beach boys, Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez.
I'm not really one particular religion but I take parts from each and have kind of assembled something that seems to work for me. I strongly believe in abstinence and temperance and yeah!

Hey all, my name is lac, im from the boring spokane, washington. what i do in my spare time is sit around on the computer replying to crap like this(aren't i exciting). im 16 years old and am going to a school called project based high school. next week we are starting school by going camping. the the next week we are going to rebuild a computer(ours to keep). thats about all that my boring ass does!!! get to know me. im way more fun than my life sounds!!! peace and love!!!

Hey all!

My name is Melanie... I'm 18 years old. I live in a town in New York where the atmosphere is so thick with hairspray and such that I don't know how anybody breathes around here. Everyone here's pretty much into themselves and what they have and making sure people who are somewhat different are miserable. For instance, when I was in high school, I would be continuously made fun of on the bus. Or at least I think so... people were laughing in my direction, but I couldn't hear what they were saying, as I had my headphones on.

Anyway, I play the bass and I want to learn about a hundred other instruments. I'd like to get my hands on a sitar one day. ... Very likely. But yeah, I like to sing, although I don't think I am very good at all. I think it's fun. My dad keeps bugging me to sing, but I'm kind of shy about it... so I tell him, "Janis says I'm not ready yet." That bugs him out quite a bit.

I love reading... anything.... and I love to write. I used to write a lot of poetry, but it was always so... for lack of a better word, "emo" in my sadder days, so I stopped writing poetry... But now I write lots of essays about all kinds of happy things. I'm a much happier person now! Besides, all that sadness was self-inflicted-teenage-boo-hoo's. I have my boyfriend to thank for getting me out of that. He makes me happier than I've ever been... well, him and the Beatles, I suppose.

Righto, my favorite bands/artists are the Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Melanie (I was named after her... woooo...), Janis Joplin, Simon & Garfunkle, the Rolling Stones, Joan Osbourne, John, Paul and George's solo stuff (gotta love George), Hanson (before you laugh, check them out, man, I'm serious!), Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Carole King, James Taylor, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, the Beach Boys, David Bowie, Judy Collins, Wings, the Who... okay, about a million other bands, I can't list them all...

I don't have very many friends anymore... most of them stopped talking to me after I started college this year. I don't really mind, though... I seemed to notice quite a bit of them trying to change me... I remember one of them reprimanding me for trying to stop an ongoing fight among my friends peacefully. "You can't be the Mother Theresa in this," I remember her saying... whatever, man, I was trying to help. I like college better. No more catty girl fights for me to get in the middle of, only to get brushed aside like a dirty hippie... oh wait. Haha...

Nah, I guess I don't consider myself a hippie, really... at least not how society sees them. I don't do drugs and I don't drink (long story for another time)... most people think of drugs right away. I think a natural high is so much cooler... not that I really have anything to compare it to, but it's still cool. I get high enough with one of my laughing/snorting fits. Yeah, I snort when I laugh. It's funny. Um... yeah, so I like solving problems as peacefully as I'm capable, I like staying happy, I like making other people happy, and I like hugs.
