that movie is so amazing. it is pretty much my favorite. its one of those movies that you can watch a number of times and not get tired of it
it tried too hard. i did like it, especially when i found out it was a true story, but definitely not a fave.
I loved that movie. I thought it was a well made movie and made me think about whats important. The funny thing is that so many I think or have said he said word for word.
I have seen Into the Wild a few times, and man I could see it many a more times...I would have to say that its my fave movie so far...and def. one of,if not thee most elightning/thought provoking, movies that I have come across...Its pretty hard explaining how this movie fully affected me... and I am sure I am not the only one that feels this way...I am looking forward to startin the book tmr, bet its going to be amazing! Peace out...
im really excited to get my friends to see it i thought it was really well made and the cinomatography was really great
the movie was ok, definately too long i ended up fastforwarding through about 10 minutes of the film that was just boring, and the main character pissed me off, i thought he was selfish for abandoning his family and not even having the courtesy to let him know what he was doing and that he was ok, they were just left to worry. also he was stupid, he didnt even bring a map of the area he was staying in, that scene where he was trying to leave and the river had grown bigger, if he had gone a 1/4 mile upstream i believe there was a crossing...i read some quote by a park ranger in alaska and he said that he felt mccandles was basically committing suicide with how ill-equipped and ill-prepared he was. When you consider McCandless from my perspective, you quickly see that what he did wasn’t even particularly daring, just stupid, tragic, and inconsiderate. First off, he spent very little time learning how to actually live in the wild. He arrived at the Stampede Trail without even a map of the area. If he [had] had a good map he could have walked out of his predicament […] Essentially, Chris McCandless committed suicide.” this is part of the quote
The only part I had a problem I had was that he didn't let the guy adopt him. I mean give the old man something. But the family thing is understandable to me...I mean it was selfish but we didn't live in his shoes and his mom and dad seemed ridiculous.
Lets all just run away from our problems. Nope it did not work for him, or if he intended to end said problems be commiting suicide then may be it did.
I thought it was ok, but I think it shed an overly positive light on what Chris was doing. I understand that they didn't want to hurt the grieving family any more, but the guy basically killed himself slowly and used everyone around him until he got what he wanted out of them. That said, I can't say what his life was like or judge, it's just that's the impression that the movie gave me of him. I think if they gave his character a little more depth I would have liked it better. I haven't read it, but I get the feeling that the book is much better.
thats like my favorite movie. I always think about doing what he did and i probably will but i won't go alone,im taking the person i love more than anything = )
I think the film managed to balance both the positive and negative aspects of Chris' actions. I don't believe he killed himself slowly at all (perhaps in a physical sense) It was a film about one man slowly bringing himself to life. The book is similarly misunderstood. Some see it as a tragedy, others see it as an inspiring attempt at absolute freedom.
Just because I see it a different way than you doesn't mean that I have "misunsderstood" it, just that I see it differently. And I do disagree with your statement that it was balanced.
Great movie. Loved the ending scene and how it was caught by the camera. Seemed very realistic and showed great emotion. Very sad, but still much better ending that most movies (Which I give credit to it being a good book in the first place, even though some movies ruin the book).
I got it on "on-demand" this past wkend, but it was so slow at the beginning so i cut it off. I went online and read the wiki for the story, but couldn't sit through the movie. It's a shame too since I was looking forward to watching it.
Probably the best movie I've seen in awhile. There have been times when I just left home with money and just went. I was already, well I am most of the time anyway, ready to hit the road and this just made the desire stronger. The guy played Alex wonderfully and I couldnt wait to see what was gonna happen next.
