Hare Krishna! Student : Can I get help from God during meditation ? Master : Yes. The indwelling Divine Presence that ever shines in your heart is waiting with outstretched arms to embrace you. ....... From "Conversations On Yoga" by Sri Swami Sivananda.
Hare Krishna! Student : What can I do besides Pranayama to elevate the mind when it gets dull during meditation ? Master : Whenever the mind gets dull, assert : "I am one with God; I am full of knowledge; I am all-powerful-Om Om Om." The mind will be elevated and fixed in meditation. ........ From Conversations On Yoga by Sri Swami Sivananda.
Hare Krishna! Student : Is it dangerous to practise Pranayama without the aid of a Guru ? Master : People get alarmed without any cause. You can practise ordinary Pranayama exercises without the help of a Guru. A Guru is needed if you want to retain the breath for a long time and unite the Prana and Apana. Books can guide you, but it is better to have a Guru. Do not go beyond your capacity even while doing the ordinary Pranayama exercises. .................. From Conversations On Yoga by Sri Swamy Sivananda.
Hare krishna! " The psychic being is formed by the soul in its evolution. It supports the mind, vital, body, grows by their experiences, carries the nature from life to life. It is the psychic or caitya purusha. At first it is veiled by mind, vital and body, but as it grows, it becomes capable of coming forward and dominating the mind, life and body.... When the psychic being can, by sadhana, become dominant and freely use its instruments, then the impulse towards the Divine becomes complete and the transformation of mind, vital and body, not merely their liberation, becomes possible. " ....... From "Letters on Yoga" - Vol. 1 (By Sri Aurobindo)
Hare Krishna ! " They [ the psychic being and the Divine presence in the heart ] are quite different things. The psychic being is one's own individual soul-being. It is not the Divine, though it has come from the Divine and develops towards the Divine. " .........From the book, Letters On Yoga - Vol. 1 By Rishi Aurobindo.
Hare Krishna ! " Depending on one's chosen deity I prescribe the necessary 'Mantra'. The reason being that having love for that particular deity, he would repeat the Mantra with great fervour. Whenever anyone takes a Mantra from me, I always tell him to keep absolute faith in that Mantra, even if he does not have that much faith in me. " .......Sati Godavari Mataji of Sakori on 'Japa'. .......From the book, Inspiring Experiences by Dinu Pavri and Rusi Ghandhy.
"Never turn back to see the result of what you have done. Give all to the Lord and go on, and think not of it."- Swami Vivekananda "As clouds are blown away by the wind, the thirst for material pleasures will be driven away by the utterance of the Lord's name." -Sri Sarada Devi May the wind blow sweetness, the rivers flow sweetness, the herbs grow sweetness, for the People of Truth! Sweet be the night, sweet the dawn, sweet be earth's fragrance, sweet be our Heaven! May the tree afford us sweetness, the sun shine sweetness, our cows yield sweetness -- milk in plenty! You are the endless sea In whom all the worlds like waves Naturally rise and fall. You have nothing to win, Nothing to lose. Child, You are pure awareness, Nothing less. You and the world are one. So who are you to think You can hold on to it, Or let it go? How could you!~ Ashtavakra Gita 15: 11-12 As a father has tenderness for his children, so the Lord has compassion on us! - St. Therese de Lisieux
God: Let me explain something to you Joan. It goes like this: I don't look like this. I don't look like anything you'd recognize. You can't see me. I don't sound like this. I don't sound like anything you'd recognize. You see, I'm beyond your experience. I take this form because you're comfortable with it, it makes sense to you. And if I'm "snippy" it's because you understand snippy. Do ya get it? Joan: Sort of. God: Good, cause I'm really not snippy. I've got a great personality. You'd like me. Joan of Arcadia, Episode 1
Back to the store. Joan finds God reading a book. Joan - We're closing. Everybody get out. (She leaves) God - Where's Sammy? Joan - Oh, he had A... family emergency. I'm covering. God - Want me to walk you home? Joan - (Locking the door) Nope. God - Why not? Joan - Because you're not real. God - Then why are you talking to me? (Outside walking on the street) You know I'm real, Joan. You've always known you're not crazy, then you got a chance to see what it really looks like. Crazy is destructive. It tears down. I'm all about building up. Joan - Then I suggest you take up carpentry. God - What do you think this is all about? Joan - Uh, you, I suppose. God - It's a creation, Joan. It's not a destruction. And that's what I want you to do. I want you to be creative. I want you to build things. Joan - I build lamps! God - Relationships, possibilities, connections. Look, have you read this? Joan - You stole that! God - Well, technically, everything's mine. It's about a house called howard's end. The house is symbolic. Joan - Yes, I know. I read it in lit class. All these English people running around misunderstanding each other because of their manners. Everything goes horribly wrong, just like in every English novel. God - You know, I like what's written at the beginning here. Would you read it for me? Joan - "Only connect." [Tearfully] You hurt me. Really bad. Why should i trust you again? God - Why did you ever? Joan - Look, we had some good times. And I'm fine with you being, you know, the divine "it." But I don't want to see you anymore. It's not you. It's me. I--I'm just-- I'm not the girl for you. I--I had... a taste of normal, and...I really liked it, you know? I really enjoyed being optimistic and... making my lamps. God - (a hint of being teary) Don't you miss me a little? Joan - No. (She‘s lying) [Sniffles] Please go. God - Do you miss yourself? Because I do. Joan of Arcadia, Episode 24
Hide Thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create me a clean heart, O God; and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation; and let a willing spirit uphold me. - Psalms 51: 11-14
"I know that love strengthens every vocation, that love is everything, that it embraces all times and all places, because it is eternal."- St. Therese de Lisieux
My music fights against the system that teaches to live and die. Bob Marley My music will go on forever. Maybe it's a fool say that, but when me know facts me can say facts. My music will go on forever. Bob Marley None but ourselves can free our minds. Bob Marley One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain. Bob Marley Open your eyes, look within. Are you satisfied with the life you're living? Bob Marley
Hare Krishna ! TRUE SEER Man wailed : "How heartless art thou, Lord ! To have fooled me with these traitor eyes ! When I seek their aid to be led to thy Truth They feed me with make-believes and lies ! " God laughed : " Why not, son, use your eyes Where they can help you the way to find ? Then, when you're homesick for my Truth, Search with your heart, for the eyes are blind. " ......From " HARK ! HIS FLUTE ! " by Dilip Kumar Roy.
Hare Krishna ! " In life all sorts of things offer themselves. One cannot take anything that comes with the idea that it is sent by the Divine. There is a choice and a wrong choice produces its consequences. " ....... Sri Aurobindo.
Saint Theresa's Prayer May today there be peace within. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilitie s that are born of faith. May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content knowing you are a child of God. Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us.
