Sri Krishna Prem, the wisest man in India, sat on the floor of his little mountain-top ashram showing me pictures from medieval alchemical books. He pointed to the design of a man standing naked with devil on one shoulder, angel on the other. He said, "When you understand that, you can go on to the next lesson."

The next lesson was a parable about a great castle that was separated from shore by a swamp. Pilgrims, searchers, warriors seeking the castle disappeared into the marsh because each rock they stepped on sank from view. The Hero and his mate sat on the bank and watched for days. Then He rose and held his handto Her. He whispered the instructions that Sri Krishna Prem transmitted to me: "Leap from rock to rock more swiftly than they sink. The trick is simple. Have courage and keep moving."

Each spot we stand on crumbles beneath us, becoming a launching pad for the next stride. From the far future, I transmit these messages back to planet earth. Beware of the Hindu trap. It's anti-sexual. The guru, God, and the swami universe is a soft, sweet custard mush. Undifferentiated unity. True unity is contacted through increasing precision of differentiations. Psi-phy. Philosophy of science. The universe is not chaos ruled by casual chance. The Second Law of Thermodynamics is pessimistic nineteenth century fraud. Tensile structures emerge and lawfully evolve because of the underlying magnetic charging. Positive-negative. WoMan.

Timothy Leary - The Starseed Transmissions.

    Ah, Sri Krishna Prem again!:)

Bill, do you remember that post about how SKP was the person that Leary came closest to accepting as his guru?

I think you were partial to Christopher Isherwood; I'm currently reading The Guru and His Disciple...very good.

    Apologies for getting off topic.

"Worthless are those who injure others vengefully,
While those who stoically endure are like stored gold.

The gratification of the vengeful lasts only for a day,
But the glory of the forbearing lasts until the end of time.

Though unjustly aggrieved, it is best to suffer the suffering
    And refrain from unrighteous retaliation."

    -Tirukkural 16: 155-157

    Psalm 63

A Psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Judah.

O God, thou art my God, I seek thee, my soul thirsts for thee; my flesh faints for thee, as in a dry and weary land where no water is.
So I have looked upon thee in the sanctuary, beholding thy power and glory.
Because thy steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise thee.
So I will bless thee as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on thy name.
My soul is feasted as with marrow and fat, and my mouth praises thee with joyful lips, when I think of thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the watches of the night; for thou hast been my help, and in the shadow of thy wings I sing for joy.
My soul clings to thee; thy right hand upholds me.
But those who seek to destroy my life shall go down into the depths of the earth; they shall be given over to the power of the sword, they shall be prey for jackals.
But the king shall rejoice in God; all who swear by him shall glory; for the mouths of liars will be stopped.

    There is no one here
    except the Lord of Love.
    Only He exists.
    In truth, He alone is.

Just a quick comment on this - Tim Leary is talking here more about the view of Advaita I think when he criticizes the idea of 'un-differentiated unity'. There are other views within Hindu philosophy which wouldn't say that such a unity is the goal, for example the philosophy of Sri Aurobindo, and to an extent that of Chaitanya and his followers.
I fear though that he is generally correct about the anti-sexual thing.

PS Just to let my friends here know -I haven't slunk away - I've had a computer crash following a bad virus infection, and it's taken me nearly 2 weeks to resolve things. In the end it needed a complete reboot of windows. Anyway - hope you are all well and in a positive consciousness.

    Love

    Joel 2:12-19

"Yet even now," says the LORD, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments." Return to the LORD, your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love, and repents of evil. Who knows whether he will not turn and repent, and leave a blessing behind him, a cereal offering and a drink offering for the LORD, your God?

Those who act without thought of personal
Profit and lead a well-disciplined life
Discover in course of time the divine principle
That all forms of life are one.
Those who work in the service of the Lord
Are freed from the law of karma.

    -Shvetashvatara Upanishad

James was always on of my favourites (though I don't know if it influenced the fact that I want to name my boy child, if/when I have one, James)...lol. Enjoy. I like this one a lot:

    James 1:16-27

Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good endowment and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

Know this, my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger, for the anger of man does not work the righteousness of God. Therefore put away all filthiness and rank growth of wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who observes his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But he who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer that forgets but a doer that acts, he shall be blessed in his doing. If any one thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this man's religion is vain.

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Let's not be decieved then and realize that this simply isn't true. Every single innovation which has improved the quality of human life, from medicine to computers to political tolerance has been a purely human invention. It hasn't come from above. And often, the hard truth is that those who think themselves god's agents have done nothing but seek to hold back progress.

Impossible to know, if God resides in all of us them maybe he inspired the inventions. Others would go further and state that God is the only force of creation, human beings are but an illusion.

I don't think the writers of the bible had any such conception, or if they did, they made a very thourough job of concealing it.
Personally, I think human beings have their own imagination, their own creative powers.
I don't think the biblical god can take much credit for human progress.

Problem with saying 'all human beings are an illusion' is that the statement is being made by such an illusory human being. Also, in effect no statement is being made, as to imagine so is yet a further level of illusion - and what is the point in adressing statements to illusory beings anyway?

I was taking it in the similar way to Philuk....well similar... but I don't know...I think many things can be God inspired....but I suppose not just good things...bad things too...but at the same time there's no such thing as good and bad.... but there is... black and white don't really exist either I suppose then. ;) Wow...that's confusing... oh well...I still like the verse...didn't say I agreed with the whole kit and kaboodle...it means things to me... ::shrug::

If we make God= progression and development.

I don't mean to sound childish but now I am curious. So lets say some one comes up and kicks you in the stomach for no reason, would that be God inspired? :troll:

I do not believe that a human being exists. It's a pure illusion of name and form.

Nothing is separate, everything is one and the same thing.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

I can't claim to have realised the above, but it's what I believe.

Me, personally, I wouldn't think so...but there are many things that I don't understand, I've found...

So who knows? It would hurt...and I'd hope that they wouldn't...but I don't know...perhaps I'd deserved it? Perhaps it was my karma? Like I said...many things about this universe that I don't understand....that we all don't...like that why good things always happen to good people thing... ::shrug::

ÒRemember this: When I am gone, only love can take my place. Be absorbed night and day in the love of God, and give that love to all.Ó- Paramahansa Yogananda
