When we are face to face with truth, the point of view of Krishna, Buddha, Christ, or any other Prophet, is the same. When we look at life from the top of the mountain, there is no limitation; there is the same immensity. ~Hazrat Inayat Khan

    HAPPY EARTH DAY!

    Save the World: George Harrison

We've got to save the world
Someone else may want to use it
    So far we've seen
This planet's rape, how we've abused it
We've got to save the world

The Russians have the biggest share
    With their long fingers everywhere
And now they've bombs in outer space
With laser beams and atomic waste

Rain forest chopped for paper towels
One acre gone in every hour
Our birds and wildlife all destroyed
    To keep some millionaires employed

We've got to save the whale
Greenpeace they've tried to diffuse it
    But dog food salesmen
Persist on kindly to harpoon it
We've got to save the world

    The armament consortium
    They're selling us plutonium
Now you can make your own H-bomb
Right in the kitchen with your mom

The nuclear power that costs you more
    Than anything you've known before
The half-wit's answer to a need
    For cancer, death, destruction, greed

We've got to save the world
Someone's children they may need it
    So far we've seen
The big business of extinction bleed it
We've got to save the world

We're at the mercy of so few
    With evil hearts determined to
    Reduce this planet into hell
Then find a buyer and make quick sale

To end upon a happy note
Like trying to make concrete float
    Is very simple knowing that
    God in your heart lives

We've got to save the world
Someone else may want to use it
    It's time you knew
    How close we've come
We're gonna lose it - We gotta save, we gotta save
    We gotta save the world

"It is necessary to pray to Him with a longing heart. The kitten knows only how to call its mother, crying, "Mew, mew!" It remains satisfied whenever its mother puts it. And the mother cat puts the kitten sometimes in the kitchen, sometimes on the floor, and sometimes on the bed. When it suffers it cries only, "Mew, mew!" That's all it knows. But as soon as the mother hears this cry, wherever she may be, she comes to the kitchen."

    -Sri Ramakrishna

"The devotee who has surrendered to God looks to no one exept to his Lord for the Fulfilment of his own wants though he fulfils the wants of others, acting for a while as an idela friend, an ideal son, an ideal father, an ideal husband, an ideal whife, an ideal unit of society, and so on. " - Madan Mohan Varma. The quote is taken from Madan Mohan Varma's Book "A Saint's Call to Mankind" , where he put together discourses of a saint who preferred to be anonymous.

"The hardest obsticle to overcome is yourself. When you sit to meditate at night, your nervousness and restlessness are still with you. Learn to control your mind and body. Be king [or queen!] of yourself. Carry within you a portable heaven, and in life or in death, in heaven , or in hades, that inner heaven will be with you. Pray deeply, sincerely, 'O God, I yearn to know You. You must answer me!' and next morning pray again, 'Lord, You must come to me!' and pray again the next night in the same way, in the language of your heart; if you keep on, He must respond. But when you half heartedly, while thinking in the back of your mind about something eles, He knows He is not first with you, and He does not respond.

Have God first. Have God now. Don't wait, because delusion is very strong. Before you know it, the time will come for you to quit this world. Whenever you have a moment, sit down and meditate. No matter how many times your prayers have not been answered, don't worry; keep on praying. Pray with sincerity. Believe that your prayer is answered....

I urge you not to pray for little things, but for His presence. Only that prayer is worthwhile. If you are willing to sacrifice an hour or two of sleep for meditation every night, you will enter the kingdom of God. Don't watch the time. With deep sincerity pray, 'Lord, I want You alone.' Bad habits and restlessness will try to shake you from your effort, but keep your mind on God and you will find His presence with you."- from "The Desire that Satisfies All Desires"- Man's Eternal Quest; Paramahansa Yogananda

Why do we play with fire?
Why do we run our fingers through the flame?
Why do we leave our hands on the stove
Although we know we're in for some pain?
Oh why do we refuse to hang a light
    Though the streets are dangerous?
Why does it take an accident
Before the truth gets through to us?

    Cages or wings?
    Which do you prefer?
    Ask the birds...
    Fear or love, baby?
    Don't say the answer.
    Actions speak louder than words.

Why do we try to be our best
When we can just get by and still gain?
Why do we nod our heads
Although we know the boss is wrong as rain?
Why should we blaze a trail when the well worn path
    Seems safe and so inviting?
How as we travel can we see the dismay and keep from fighting?

    Cages or wings?
    Which do you prefer?
    Ask the birds....
    Fear or love, baby?
    Don't say the answer.
    Actions speak louder than words.

    What does it take
    To wake up a generation?
How can you make someone take off and fly?
    If we don't wake up
    And shake up the nation
We'll leave the dust of the world
    Wondering why.....

Why do we stay with lovers
Who we know down deep just aren't right?
Why would we rather put ourselves through hell
    Than sleep alone at night?
Why do we follow leaders who never lead?
Why does it take catastrophe to start a revolution
    If we're so free?
    Tell me why.
Tell me why, so many people bleed!

    Cages or wings?
    Which do you prefer?
    Ask the birds!
    Fear or love, baby?
    Don't say the answer.
    Actions speak louder than
    (Louder than, Louder than...ooo...)
    They speak louder
    (Louder than, louder than)
    Actions speak louder than.....

    - "Louder Than Words"- tick, tick...BOOM; Jonathan Larson

There is a marvelous story of a man who once stood before God, his heart breaking from the pain and injustice in the world. "Dear God." he cried out, "look at all the suffering, the anguish and distress in your world. Why don't you send help?"

God responded,"I did send help. I sent you."

If the body lasted till the end of time,
    Or vanished today,
What would you win or lose?

    You are pure awareness.

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
    pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way

Make every act an offering to me (God); regard me as your only protector. Relying on interior discipline, meditate on me always. Remembering me, you shall overcome all difficulties through my grace. But if you will not heed me in your self-will, nothing will avail you.

    -Bhagavad Gita 18:57-58
